Chapter 7

Heavy footsteps rang through the corridor and Mizu panicked. She texted Kwon Joo an SOS message and her current location. She grabbed a kitchen knife she hid long ago and went to the door.

"Babe! What are you doing?!" Go Jun was shocked when he opened the door. Mizu glanced at his hands, there was an apple in one hand and a plate in the other.

This can't be! Mizu was terrified. She swore that Go Jun picked up a call and grabbed only the knife in the kitchen!

"...Jun." Mizu dropped the knife carefully, "W-what are you doing?"

"I'm cutting an apple for you," Go Jun showed her the apple.

Mizu went quiet. Before she knew it, Go Jun pulled her into a hug.

"Don't try to harm yourself, babe." Go Jun kisses her neck. Then in an instant, he pulled out his knife from his pocket and stabbed her stomach.

He knew that she was going to kill him since there was a police officer backing her up.

"Only I could harm you." He stared at Mizu coldly.

Go Jun then felt a sharp pain in his chest. he looked down and saw a knife on his chest. She aimed for his heart.

"Why...YOU BITCH!"

Mizu let out a chuckle that sounds evil.

"Rot. in. hell. Yoon. Go. Jun."

"YOU-" Go Jun struggled but he completely fell to the ground. A few minutes have past and he lost consciousness.

"I finally got my revenge, Go Jun." Mizu smiled. Not long after she also lost consciousness.

The police finally arrived right after someone reported the case because they heard screaming next door. Unfortunately, Go Jun has been confirmed dead. Mizu was sent to the hospital for treatment, but not long after Mizu was also confirmed dead since she lost a lot of blood from the stabbing.

"I can't believe this," Do Kyung shook his head in disbelief after hearing the news.

"Me neither," Kwon Joo also shook her head. Luckily she managed to delete the app before Do Kyung got suspicious about it.

"According to the result and timing, Yoon Go Jun stabbed Mizu first right in her stomach. It apparently looks like he was about to stab her in the heart but he decided not to. On the other hand, Mizu stabbed Go Jun in the heart. Both lost consciousness not long after, and Go Jun's heartbeat weakened." One of the forensics staff reported the situation to Do Kyung and Kwon Joo.

They both nodded in silence. Just then, Kwon Joo was reminded of Mizu's words back then at the cinema.

'You also have to watch out for Do Kyung, I don't think he's nice either.'

Kwon Joo connected the situation to Min Ju's unsolved case one month ago. Could it be that...Do Kyung is the one who murdered Min Ju?

No, it can't be. Kwon Joo shook her head. Do Kyung seems like a good person. There's no absolute way.

But Mizu doesn't seem like she's joking about it...

This is driving me crazy! Kwon Joo scratched her head.

"Are you ok?" Do Kyung's calm and worried voice rang through Kwon Joo's ear.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Kwon Joo smiled at him. She then analyzes Do Kyung's face.

Yeah, that's right. Do Kyung is a nice person. No way he'll kill someone innocent like Min Ju. Kwon Joo thought.

What if he's manipulating you? A voice rang through Kwon Joo's mind. Her mind instantly went blank.

"Kwon Joo, are you really ok?" Do Kyung's voice rang through her ear once again. She looked up and saw Do Kyung's worried expression. That expression looks soft and convincing, but it looks frightening to Kwon Joo.

Kwon Joo shook her head, "I need to go home. I haven't slept for days. No need to worry about me! She pulled up a smile.

"I see. Get lots of rest, honey. I love you." Do Kyung stepped forward and kissed her forehead.

"Mhm. Love you too, hun." Kwon Joo smiles awkwardly. She then walked to her car and drove back home.

A few days later, Kwon Joo worked to the bone at the station. Not only her but other teammates as well. They're solving Min Ju's case since a witness came to give new evidence.

The witness is Go Jun's dad, also known as the head chief of the hospital Yoon Si Wan. Kwon Joo was shocked when she saw him at the entrance.

"Here's the list of doctors that uses the syringe that day. In our hospital, whoever needs that syringe must fill in a special form in case they use it to overdose themselves or others. However, there isn't a specific time when they used it so it will be hard to check. Also, here's the CCTV footage regarding that day. Although the culprit moved the CCTV, but we could still see their figure."

"Thank you for your help, sir. We'd appreciate it." Kwon Joo smiles.

"It's not a big deal. Oh, by the way..." Si Wan suggests Kwon Joo to move closer. He whispered in her ear.

"I sure hope it's not my nephew Do Kyung who did it. Some clues are pointing directly at him."

After finishing his sentence, Si Wan stepped out of the station. Leaving Kwon Joo more shocked than before.

Kwon Joo overthinks Si Wan's words. How come Do Kyung would kill an innocent child? No way. There's no way.

Kwon Joo then fainted due to overworking.

Kwon Joo's apartment.

A beeping noise rang, then the door to her apartment was unlocked.

The mysterious figure entered her apartment. He glances around the house and he found his way to her bedroom.

He sat on her bed. Then he took off his hood because he felt hot. Revealing his bare face.

"Your bed is really comfy. I bet you don't have any nightmares about it."

"Right, Kwon Joo?"

He let out a laugh while staring at Kwon Joo's photo in her bedroom.

Things are getting more interesting. He thought.
