Akima is mentioned in chapter, but not in it.
Third Persons POV
"Where's Akima?" Parker asks Quaritch.
"Wasn't there, apparently went to fetch water. I left two of my men there, they will bring her in when she returns" Quaritch tel him. He pulls up a video of Jake destroying one of the bulldozers cameras. He pauses it on his avatar's face. "You let me down, son. You got a little local pussy and completely forgot what team you play for?" he asks.
Jake meets his gaze with a defiant glare. "Parker, listen, there may still be time to..." Grace starts to say.
"Shut your pie hole" Quaritch demands.
"Or what, Ranger Rick? You gonna shoot me?" she asks him annoyed.
"I can do that" he tells her.
"You need to muzzle your dog" she tells Parker.
"Can we just take this down a couple notches, please" he asks.
"You say you want to keep your people alive. Start by listening to her" Jake tells him.
"This is bad, Parker. Those trees were sacred to the Omaticaya in a way you can't imagine" Grace tells him.
"You know what? You throw a stick in the air around here it falls on some sacred fern" he states.
"I'm not talking about pagan voodoo here I'm talking about something real and measurable in the biology of the forest" Grace states.
"Which is what exactly?" Parker asks her.
"What we think we know is that there's some kind of electrochemical communication between the roots of the trees. Like the synapses between neurons. Each tree has ten to the fourth connections to the trees around it, and there are ten to the twelfth trees on Pandora" Grace explains.
"That's a lot, I'm guessing" Parker states crossing his arms.
"That's more connections than the human brain. You get it? It's a network a global network. And the Na'vi can access it, they can upload and download data. Memories, at sites like the one you destroyed" she states.
"What the hell have you people been smoking out there? They're just. Goddamn. Trees" Parker states as Quaritch laughs.
"You need to wake up, Parker. The wealth of this world isn't in the ground it's all around us. The Na'vi know that, and they're fighting to defend it" Grace tells him. SHe then sees the video of a group o Palulukan attacked the bulldozers. "Not just the Na'vi, have you ever seen a pride of Palulukan?" she asks pointing at the screen. "I haven't they are solo hunters. Yet these ones banded together to attack the bulldozers after they destroyed those sacred trees" she states.
"We call handle the pride" Quaritch states as he goes to a computer screen. "As for the Na'vi. I think we understand them just fine. Thanks to Jake here" he states pulling up an old video log of Jake's.
"They're not going to give up their home they're not gonna make a deal. For what? Lite beer and shopping channel? There's nothing we have that they want. We're a horror to them. We're the monsters from space. They're never gonna leave home tree" Jake states on the video log.
Quaritch stops the video. "Since a deal can't be made it gets real simple" he declares. "Jake, thanks. I'm gettin' all emotional. Might just give you a big wet kiss" he states.
"Colonel, still no sign of Lycan" Wainfleet comms in.
"Forget her and return to base. Leave her a message to contact base" Quaritch tells him. As Jake, Grace and Norm are escorted from the room. He looks at Parker. "I'll do it with minimal casualties to the indigenous. I'll drive 'em out with gas first. It'll be humane. More or less" he assures him.
"And the pride?" Parker asks.
"We'll hunt it down once we've dealt with the Omaticaya" Quaritch tells him.
"Alright, let's pull the trigger" Parker tells him. Max run from the room to go tell the others. They then returned to bridge to confront Parker. While Quaritch was in the hanger preparing his troops to attack Home Tree.
"Parker, wait. Stop! These are people you're about to..." Grace starts to say.
"They're fly-bitten savages who live in a tree! Look around I don't know about you but I see a lot of trees. They can move" he tells her.
"For God's sake, there are children in there. Babies, are you going to kill babies?" Grace asks him.
"Look Selfridge, you don't want this kind of blood on your hands. Let me try to talk them out. They trust me" Jake states. Parker agrees and they go to the link room.
"You've got one hour. Unless you want your girlfriend in there when the axe comes down, you get them to evacuate. You see Akima, tell her she is ordered to return here. One hour" Parker tells Jake. Before letting him link with his avatar. He wakes to see Neytiri.
"I have to talk to your father" he tells her as Grace wakes. She nods her head. The three them head down the spiral where the rest of the tribe is gathered. Preparing for war. Jake looks around, feeling the gaze of the People upon him. He is surprised to see Akima among them. How could she be linked to her avatar if she isn't at the shack?
