Akima's POV
We're out of ear shot of the clan. "What are you?" Mo'at asks me.
"What do you mean?" I ask her fawning innocence.
"I have seen you change" Aries states.
"Your blood also tastes different from other dream-walkers" Mo'at adds. I sigh running a hand through my hair.
"I am what my people call a lycan, I am the last of my kind" I tell them.
"What is a Lycan?" Eytukan asks confused.
"A human with the ability to turn into a wolf. Except in this body, I turn into a palulukan" I state.
"How?" Tsu'tey asks.
"I was born this way, there are those that have the gene. But will not turn unless bitten by another Lycan" I state.
"Is there anything else we should know?" Mo'at asks.
"I am stronger and faster then other dream-walkers. I can communicate with the animals. In fact I am alpha of the nantang pack near by" I explain.
"Do the other sky people know?" Eytukan asks me.
"No, only Grace and Max know" I state.
"Could you turn us?" Aries asks. I bite my lip.
"Can you?" Mo'at asks.
"I have smelt some here with the Lycan gene, which surprises me" I state.
"Long ago, there were songs of Na'vi with the ability to turn into palulukan. But the ability was lost long ago" Eytukan states.
"There is a legend, that one day someone with the ability would appear. And lead others to becoming them again. They would be protectors of all Na'vi and the planet. They were Eywa's protectors" Mo'at explains.
"It will be painful, the first transformations always are" I state.
"We can handle it" Aries states.
"Can you?" I ask him looking him in the eyes.
"I have the gene?" he asks and I nod my head.
"Will you be the first to turn?" Eytukan asks him.
"To protect the tribe, yes" Aries states.
"I will teach you the way of the Lycan, we live by a code of honour. Once you have learnt, I will turn others I deem worthy" I state.
"Worthy?" Tsu-tey asks.
"Not all with the gene will be worthy or wish to become a lycan. I will sniff them out and make a list" I tell them.
"Will you turn me tonight?" Aries asks.
"Not right now, later was you have eaten" I tell him.
"Then Aries will show you to the clothes hut, so that you can change" Mo'at states. I bow my head. "We will see you both soon" she adds before leaving with Tsu-tey and Eytukan.
"You and Tsu'tey share a similar scent" I state as Aries leads me up home tree.
"He is my older brother" he tells me. "What is this code?" he asks me.
"Lycans have an unwavering sense of loyalty, and will often bond with other Lycans. They form packs and work with each other as sort of an extended family. The bond of loyalty between lycans is so strong that while changed under full moons, the only beings they do not attack are other lycans or animals" I explain.
"We attack other beings?" he ask.
"Most do not have control of their lycan form and will attack any human that crosses their path. But since coming here, I have been in complete control of my other self. Though I fear I will lose control if I am angered" I state.
"Anything else?" he asks me.
"Just this, the law of the Lycan, as old and as true as the sky. And the Lycan that shall keep it may prosper, but the lycan that shall break it must die. For the strength of the pack is the lycan, and the strength of the lycan is the pack" I recite.
"Who told you this?" he asks me curious.
"My former mentor before he died" I state as we reached the clothing hut. "I will be out shortly" I tell him. He nods his head and I enter. I pick out clothes and go change. Then ask on of the na'vi women to do my hair for me. She did so with a smile.
I then went back to Aries. "What do you think?" I ask him.
"You look like a true Na'vi" he states and I smile. He leads me to the feast. I notice Jake already there with Neytiri. I go sit with them while Aries goes to sit but his brother. Who is sitting with Mo'at and Eytukan.
"Where have you been?" Jake asks me curious.
"Getting to know my mentor" I tell him.
"You look lovely" Neytiri tells me.
"Thank you" I say. She gives me a plate and I thank her. I ate in silence.
"You never told me your name" Jake tells Neytiri.
"Neytiri te Ckaha Mo'at'ite" she tells him.
"Okay, again, a whole lot slower" he tells her.
"Neytiri. Nay-TEE-ree"she says slowly.
"Nay-TEE-ree" he says with a smile. "That's nice, Neytiri" he tells her. I notice the leaders and Tsu'tey looking at us. I listen in.
"These aliens try to look like people, but they can't" Tsu'tey says glaring at Jake.
"He seems dim to me. And his eyes are too small" Mo'at states. I chuckle as I take some bettle larvae from a leaf.
"Your mom likes me. I can tell" I hear Jake say to Neytiri. Mo'at leaned over to talk to Eytukan.
"Neytiri will test this "warrior." He may learn nothing, but we will learn much" she tells him.
"You speak truth. We must understand these Sky People if we are to drive them out" Eytukan states. I flatten my ears. What does he mean by that? I wonder.
"These rock. What are they?" Jake asks Neytiri as he munches on the beetle larvae.
"Teylu" I tell him with a smirk as I ate my own.
"Which is?" he asks confused.
"You call them beetle larvae" Neytiri tells him. Jake blanches a she heaps some more onto his leaf. I giggle. He meets her eyes, takes a handful, and starts munching enthusiastically.
"That's some damn fine teylu. That's like grandma's teylu" he tells her. The rest of dinner was peaceful. Aries collected me after and showed me to the sleeping level. Where I was to sleep in a hammock next to his.
"I will turn you tomorrow, sleep well" I tell him. He nods his head. He goes to sleep. I close my hammock and let sleep take me. I wake up in my pod to see the others gathered around an awake Jake.
"Yeah, Doc and you are not going to believe where Akima and I are" he tells Grace.
"We're at Home Tree, we were chosen by the Omaticaya" I tell her. We all go ate and tell the others our story. I then go to my room and call it a night.
