Akima's POV
"Alpha, where Aries?" Cato asks.
"He was hurt badly, Loki has taken him to where we are going" I state.
"Will he die like Nuka?" Mimi asks scared.
"I do not know, I pray not" I tell her. "The tribe has suffered enough lose" I state.
"Do you want me to carry Grace?" she asks.
"I got it" I assure her.
"But your baby" she says.
"Is fine" I assure her. "How did you know?" I ask.
"I overheard you and Aries" she says sheepishly.
"I am not upset that you know, I shall tell the rest of the pride once we reach the Well of Souls" I state.
"What will the pride do next?" Cato asks.
"We protect the people, anyway we can" I tell him.
"Where are the others?" Mimi asks.
"I sent them to find any stragglers and guide them to the Well of Souls" I state. "Tsu'tey is clan leader now, we must respect him as we did Eytukan" I tell them. They nod their heads. "I am going to go check in with him" I add and I move through the crowd.
I am glad to see few dead. But many are injured. I reach the front of the group. "They following us?" Tsu'tey asks and I shake my head. "Is Aries hurt?" he asks and I nod my head. "I am sure he will live, he is strong" he states. "Thank you and thank the pride for all you have done for us so far" he adds.
"We are grateful" Neytiri adds. "Will you continue to fight for us?" she asks. I nod my head.
"I shall tend to Aries when we arrive Akima, then I wish to check you" Mo'at states. I nod my head again.
"Return to your pride, rise the alarm if you see any sky people" Tsu'tey tells me. I nod and slick back to the other two. I see Cato looking tired.
"Do you need a break?" I ask him.
"I am fine alpha" he assures me.
"When we arrive, you will rest. Both of you" I tell them. They sigh in defeat and nod their heads. Just then Tahi-aki arrives with the rest of the pried and stragglers. Some are injured, but otherwise are alive. "Report" I say.
"No bodies and everyone is accounted for, except for Jake Sulley" he states.
"We can go scout for him" Lars offers.
"No, Jake can take care of himself. Besides, he betrayed the people" I state. "Only Ewya can help him now" I tell them. They nod their heads in understanding. "Fan out and circle the tribe, raise the alarm if you see any sky peoples" I instruct. They do so and Mimi goes to join them
"Mimi stay" I tell her. She sighs and stays with Cato & I. The journey to the Well of Souls is long without pa'li or ikran. But we still reach it by night fall. The wounded are tended to by healers, while Mo'at focused on Aries. Whose breathing is slower then before.
I lay Grace down and go somewhere private. I change and get dressed. Before going to kneel by Aries as Mo'at tends to his wound. "Is he ok?" I ask.
"He will live, but he is very weak and needs rest" she states. I sigh in relief. She checks me over. "Your baby is strong" she tells me. I smile.
"I must go see the pride" I tell her. "I shall return shortly" I state. She nods her head in understanding. I go join the pride to see them preparing to put Nuka to rest.
"How's Alpha Aries?" Mimi asks.
"He will live, but will not be able to join us in protecting the people. He needs rest" I tell them. "I have something to tell you all" I add. "I am with child" I state. They all smile and congratulate me. "It will not stop me fighting, I promised Aries I'd protect the people and I will do so. I will not order you to stand with me, the decision is yours. So are you with me?" I ask them.
"Yes" they all say.
"Then get some rest once we have moan our dead, tomorrow is going to be a big day" I tell them. They nod. The tribe say goodbye to our dead once the wounded are all tended to. We then all sleep together in a pile around each other. So that we know we're not alone and all feel connected while we sleep.
Tomorrow Mo'at will lead a prayer to Ewya before we plan our attack. Something tells me, something important is going to happen tomorrow. Something that hasn't happened for a long time. I can only pray we beat the sky people and that I lose no one else from the pride. That when Aries wake, we will have driven the sky people from our home back to their dying planet.
