"I LOOKED DOWN AT THE TENTACLE AROUND ME."

"This actually isn't terrible." I admitted as I sat in the passenger seat with Klaus driving the car. Not sure I trust him, but he begged to drive.

"See? Told you." Klaus grinned smugly. I sighed.

"Come to think of it, my whole life I've been under the gun. Missions for dad, working for the Commission, trying to survive the apocalypse. I was always looking around every corner, just waiting for the other shoe to drop." I ranted.

"It's nice to just breath." I exhaled slowly.

"Good for you, man. Retirement is suiting you." As Klaus said this, my eyes widened in realization.

"Oh! Uh... all right!" I pulled out an old fashioned map. "So, I've circled all the roadside attractions along the way." I announced.

"Uhh... I'm not sure we're gonna have time..." I ignored Klaus.

"We have the Brownsville Big Nickel." I talked over Klaus. "Oh, Ricky's Bakery has award-winning pies."

"Well, if you just let me explain for like two seconds..."

"Or there's this Cow Henge." I looked over at Klaus with a smile. I know he wants to see cows.

"Listen to me. Just shut up for two seconds, okay? Just two seconds? All right?" Klaus remarked. My smile faded and I folded the map again.

"Okay..." I put the map away. "I'm all ears." I said sarcastically.

"We are going to Pennsylvania to find..." Klaus trailed off. "-my birth mother. Yay!" Klaus cheered with a nervous smile.

"Excuse me?"

"I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry. I just needed somebody to come with me for emotional support, and Y/n was no where to be found." Klaus apologized.

"Oh, emotional support, like a Schnauzer?" I snapped.

"Yeah, and I knew you wouldn't come if I told you, so what was I supposed to do?" Klaus asked me.

"You're damn right I wouldn't have come, Klaus. You know why? Because I am supposed to be retired!" I exclaimed and pointed at myself.

"I know! I know!" Klaus groaned.

"This was supposed to be a carefree road trip." I hissed.
