Beck's POV:
I gratefully took a long drink from the waterbottle in my hands. I looked around at all my men, sweating and breathing heavily. We had been running for about two hours now and we had traveled a good distance. We were about a third of the way there. We'd arrive on Alexia's packlands about two hour earlier than we thought.
Alexia. I hadn't been gone very long, but I missed her already. I peeled my short over my head and used it to wipe the sweat from the back of my neck. I pulled my phone from my shorts pocket, and dialed the number turning away from the group.
The phone rang a few times. She's probably still asleep. Then suddenly the line picked up.
"Hello?" Alexia's sleepy voice filled my ear. I smiled.
"Hey baby,"I murmured.
"Beck?"
"Hi princess"
"Hi, " she paused for a yawn, "how's the journey?"
"Good, we'll be there in about four hours. Are you still sleeping?"
"Yeah," she yawned. "I miss you," she grumbled.
"I miss you too sweetheart, I'll let you go back to sleep." She sighed and hummed in response.
"Love you," she grumbled.
"I love you too Alexia," I whispered. "Bye baby," and after hearing her sigh in content, hung up. I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked back over to the guys.
"How's the little Luna?" Will asked.
"Sleepy," I replied and they chuckled. "Did you guys call the ladies?" I asked pulling a protein bar out of my back pack.
"I'm not waking Emma up," Justin said shuddering, "she may be little, but my girl is a bear in the morning." I laughed. "Maybe in a bit I will,"
"Yeah that sounds like the Emma I remember."
"Beck!" I turned to see John striding towards me. "Walk with me," I nodded and stood to meet him.
We turned and walked a ways away from our team.
"How's Alexia doing?"
"She's alright, She's a little tired this morning."
"No I mean with everything that happened."
"Oh is she's getting better. She still has nightmares every once and a while. And she wasn't eating a lot but she's a lot better in that respect. She doesn't have a lot of confidence, she's unsure and self conscious. But she's getting there."
"Did you punish the bastards?" I nodded.
"The worst perpetrator, Logan, was executed. Alexia doesn't know that though. She didn't want them to be hurt. Logan's second and third henchmen were executed as well, but the rest are in the prisons for varying sentences."
"Good. Do you plan on telling her?" He said tilting his head to look at me. I sighed, and pushed a hand through my hair.
"At some point," I paused, "I just don't know how to tell her. She's going to be upset, knowing they were hurt. She'll feel like it was her fault. But she deserves to know." He nodded in agreement.
"What about the rogue?"
"He didn't make it" I sighed.
"I noticed you haven't marked her," he said giving me a sly smirk. "How come?"
I shook my head. "I want her to be ready. I want it to be special."
"You're good for her Beck. She loves you." he paused. "That's why I think you should propose." I looked at him. How did he know. "You forgot to shut our mind link off earlier." Crap. I forgot I had been thinking about the Luna Ceremony.
