We are living in the middle of the 20th century.  This country has many steppes, lakes, mountains and... wonders?

Every year, children who want to achieve their goals, go to the window and look at the full moon.  If the moon winks at them, then the children are ready.

Don't worry if you have bad eyesight or your parents don't allow you to stay up for so long: today everything is different.
So, if the moon gives the signal, the next day the child goes with their parents to the garden where the birds are singing.
There takes place the first of the four rites (although people say that there are not four, but five options).

The first rite: Animals in your world. Also, these people are called Does. (The story about this will follow)
Migratory birds gather every year in the garden, near the doe monument: titmice, starlings;  or non-migratory birds: crows, larks, pigeons and even ospreys.
A chosen child approaches the monument and visualizes their life (as adults would say), but in fact, they imagines the life of a dream.
Mild birds, as all they are, feel certain feelings of a child.  They analyze whether the child is cruel or harmful, maybe gentle or well-read, and choose them that way.
Sometimes, even with good or equal qualities, children do not pass, because the birds see them in a different place in society.
Why birds, you ask?
And the fact is, that it is believed that birds have seen many people from different countries or worlds and understand people better. Also, such animals as mammals are rather good teachers.

Second Rite: Lost souls seeking
Such people are called Dust in the sense of fug, ashes.
Children who have not become Does go home and stand near the portraits of their relatives, looking carefully at those they love (children can love or not love their parents, this is not condemned in this world).
If you feel a breeze and a tingling sensation on the tips of your ears, you need to close your eyes and listen.  Hissing sounds indicate that you have become part of the Dust union.  (The history of the Dust people will be described later).

Third rite: Pillars of order.
Those who did not pass the first two parts go to bed to rest.
The next morning, the third group is selected.  It is considered the most frequent.
Stars people. It seems such a simple name, what can they represent?
And this, my dears, is an important pillar of society.
Star people are people who sell goods, serve customers, are good marketers, cook well and have a knack for farming. It is these people who can become mechanics, engineers or chief cook.

They are respected, some parents secretly want their children to belong to the third grade.  Therefore, you may see potions or recipes in newspapers to turn your child into a Star.  (Actually, it doesn't work).

Fate finds these children like this: they go to the market with their parents, and if a radish falls under the child's feet, it means that they are the third layer of society. This radish is given to the child and they grows it as their first (and maybe last) plant. Because marketers need to grow plants except for indoor decoration.

The three methods are quite banal and, as it were, not very clear, but they are all effective and accurate.
After all, in this world, radishes don't fall just like that, and birds don't sit on a child's shoulder for no reason, and the hissing whispering voice of ancestors doesn't sound every day.

So, in the next chapter we will talk about another method, about what happens to those who were not chosen by the moon or other options (parents simply put the child to sleep or a child scared of moon). Also, we will talk about the secret fifth layer of people.
