The first animal that helped the wizard was a doe, she broached many secrets of nature to help other animals protect themselves from human cruelty and teach people to live in harmony with nature.
Then the second sorcerer was joined by a heron and so on.
Founder of this stratum of the population is considered to be the doe, not the magician, because it was the doe who gave knowledge and revealed the potential of her companion.
