Payton went home mind racing. Simon the boy who had relentlessly teased her for the past 3 years asked her out on a date... An actual date.

When Payton got in the car with the rise her sister immediately bombarded her with questions like; what's that? Who gave it to you? Really, Simon? Why? Did he ask you out? Did you say yes? Etc. because Payton was still in a daze she answered the questions quickly with little emotion beside shock and exhaustion from a long day.

Meanwhile Simon sat silent in the passenger seat of his moms car listening to some song on the radio. Know all he had to do is finalize his plans for Friday night now three days away. After conferring his plans to eat out on Friday with his parents, and getting permission to drive the car for the date, everything was set.

The next few days were easy for the teens because they both went to different schools. Simon attended the local high school, while Payton went to a privet school further out of town. But what was difficult was seeing each other at swim practice. At swim they avoided each other completely preferring to stick to groups of there own gender. Payton would discuss Simon, school, and other drama with her two best friends, Ana and Jessica. While Simon would mess about with Mathew, Neal's, and the other boys being loud and obnoxious. The awkward tension between the two swimmers was obvious, and everyone felt it. Simon wouldn't even join in with the boys when they teased the girls. Luckily this would soon come to an end seeing that today is Friday the day of Payton and Simons date.

Simon shyly told Payton that he was going to pick her up at 7:45 and that it was semiformal so neither of them would feel over or under dressed for the occasion. When both teens arrived home they quickly showered dryers off and got dressed. Simon wearing dark wash jeans and a button up shirt. Payton in a black skirt and floral top, she also curled her hair be taste her friends told her she'd look amazing, and she did. Just as Payton had finished getting ready she heard a knock at her front door. She quickly put everything away and ran down the stairs. She opened the door to a handsome, but awkward looking Simon. They had a quick exchanged before Simon walked Payton to the car with her parents looking on from the front door.

Simon couldn't believe how gorgeous Payton looked, he had always thought she was pretty. but know in the light of the late afternoon sun, it was as if her beauty was magnified.

Once they we both in the car Simon tried to relieve the air of the awkward tension "... So how was your day?"
"It was good, kinda of though" the was a pause before Payton continued, "Because of school and all. I can't wait for summer."
The two then had something to talk about on the way to Anthony's, Simon was planning on leaving the state for a while in the summer to go visit family. And Payton was doing about the same.

They pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant just as the conversation started to die down. Which was good because walking in have them both time to collect there thoughts for the next hour or so of talking and eating.
