Chapter 6: With You

3rd POV

The cold sweat trickled down further as Y/N reached her hand over her forehead, wiping the sweat off. She wasn't sure whether to text back just yet, either.

But curiosity took the best of her.

"Who are you?"

She typed down as quickly as she could before re-reading it several times, and then sending it finally.

As if the answer was ready already, before she could even turn her phone off, they replied.

"Ouch, that hurt. I thought you'd recognise. After all, aren't you Y/N L/N?"

Y/N's thoughts went like a mess over past memories.

Do I know him? He sounds so arrogantly known.

She read the message again.

It was not ringing any bells to her.

Feeling weirdly curious and creeped out at the same time, Y/N made her way to class.

"Good morning, Y/N!"

Almost thinking it may have been the unknown stranger, she jumped backwards crashing into a table, making it fall along with her. But before she even hit the ground, a strong arm wrapped itself around her, and she was pulled back on her feet by a chuckling Ayato.

"Careful there," He said, as he picked the table up pretty easily and set it down right "Well, how are you?" Ayato took Y/N's bag for her and set it down carefully.

"Oh, thanks. I.. I'm fine..." She smiled but Ayato saw through the fake smile and narrowed his cold grey eyes. He knew something was definitely wrong.

"H-How about you?" Y/N asked back, stuttering a little, lost in Ayato's eyes.

"Oh, I'm great. But you don't seem fine. You seem... disturbed," He said, leaning a bit closer making Y/N warily take a step back.

"Oh, it's just Budo's disappearance- nothing much! Just...that... I.. " Her brightness dropped, "I'm just worried..."

Ayato's eyes softened as he reached a hand out and gently held Y/N's shoulder.

"Hey, look at me."

"Uhm..."

She looked up, tears pricking the corners of her eyes. This was all genuinely overwhelming to her. But she herself didn't know why she wasn't telling Ayato about the unknown stranger.

"Everything is going to be okay, yeah? Everything's gonna be back to normal and we are going to have an amazing school year. We're gonna get through this together."

"Together?"

She looked up into his usually dead eyes but to her shock she was met with..life. It looked...so lively and so beautiful. It was as if all this time, it was nothing but just a simple misunderstanding.

"Together. You're very strong. And please, continue to make me happy like you always do and stay strong."

Y/N giggled and wiped off her tears before they could fall, "I..."

The bell rang.

Cheeks now glowing red, the both of them went to their respective seats. Y/N's heartbeat was fast.

But she felt good. She felt amazing. She felt... in love.

She was happy she had someone to rely on. Someone to be together with.
