THE NEXT MORNING, Caroline walked out of the hospital wing doors after visiting Jacob. Professor Flitwick had explained to her at breakfast that he had gotten sick in the night and was taken to Madam Pomfrey. When Caroline got there, he told her that he was worried because of what happened at the World Cup. Caroline knew he had been off since that night, but she didn't know how nervous he had gotten. Jacob tried to pretend that he was tough and strong, but their mother coddled him immensely growing up, and it weighed on him now.

Madam Pomfrey had allowed Caroline to sit with Jacob and be a little late to Defense Against the Dark Arts. She talked to him, and when he got bored, she left. Caroline had grabbed her bag and left the hospital wing, which is where she ran right into the chest of Cedric Diggory, her bag falling to the floor.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Cedric bent down and picked the bag up. He realized it was Caroline when he stood up. "Here. Are you alright, Caroline? Are you sick, or something?"

Caroline nodded, taking the bag. "Thank you, Cedric. I'm fine, I was just visiting my brother, he got sick last night." she answered. Her head of curly hair was a golden brown color, gathered in a small bun at the base of her neck.

"Is he okay?" Cedric questioned. He towered over Caroline, which made her feel kind of weird.

"Yeah, he'll be okay, thanks. What are you doing out here? Don't you have class?" Caroline asked, shrugging her bag over her shoulder.

Cedric shook his head. "Free period. But, I doubt you do, so I'll let you go. Where are you headed?"

      "Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"Perfect. I'll walk you." Cedric said, starting to walk away.

Caroline followed, smiling. "It's going to be weird without Professor Lupin." said Caroline. Her and Cedric began to walk towards the class in step with each other.

"Yeah. Professor Lupin was an amazing teacher." Cedric agreed.

"Well, that, and he's my godfather," Caroline said, glancing up, seeing Cedric's surprised face. She chuckled as they arrived at the classroom. "Thanks for walking me."

Cedric nodded. "My pleasure. See you around, Caroline." he walked away, and Caroline braced herself to walk into the classroom.

Professor Moody was writing on the chalkboard, but he whipped around as Caroline made her way to her seat next to Hermione. He threw the chalk at Caroline, who ducked and moved to the right just in time. The chalk clattering echoed through the classroom, along with the gasps of numerous Fourth Years. "You're late!" Professor Moody practically growled as Caroline's heart rate slowed down.

"You're mad! Madam Pomfrey's excused me." Caroline said, sitting down in her seat, all eyes on her.

Professor Moody narrowed his eye at Caroline. "You're the Taylor-Jones girl. Hector and Delilah's daughter?"

Caroline looked at Hermione, who shrugged slightly. "Yes?" Caroline said, a hint of fear in her voice.

"Shame. As I was saying, which of you can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?" Professor Moody said, and Caroline was relieved to be getting back on topic. She pulled her book out.
