CAROLINE ENDED UP spending a few days at Hermione's house. It was good for her, a nice change of scenery with her best friend. Caroline heard the discussions Hermione's parents had about her returning to Hogwarts, and Hermione was worried. The Wizarding World was a scary place since Voldemort returned, and everyone was on edge. But the two girls had their fun, discussing anything and everything.

"I can't believe he hasn't come back yet." Hermione spoke of Harry, lying on her bed, while Caroline collapsed on the floor.

"I told him not to, that I was fine. I know he doesn't believe me, but I think he wants to." Caroline said, Marie and Penny playing with Crookshanks.

Hermione smiled. "You two are so cute," she fawned. "You know, people are going to be very jealous of you this year." Hermione said, leaning over the edge of her bed to see Caroline on the rug.

"Why?" Caroline frowned. "I'm practically an orphan for the second time, who would be jealous of me?"

Hermione rolled her eyes. "Because you're dating 'The Chosen One'." she said dramatically.

Caroline frowned. "But I was dating him last year, too."

"No one could tell. You were both so quiet, everyone just assumed you were best friends." Hermione said, rolling off of her bed and joining Caroline on the floor.

"Good thing he really likes to kiss me these days." Caroline said, both her and Hermione bursting into laughter.

The next morning, Caroline said goodbye to Hermione's parents, and walked to the door. "Bye, Car." Hermione said, hugging Caroline tightly.

Caroline hugged her back. "I'll see you in a few weeks. Don't worry, you'll be at Weasleys in no time." she promised, and Hermione nodded.

By the end of the week, Caroline was packing to go to the Weasleys. She wouldn't be home before term started. "Do you have everything?" Tonks asked, Remus and Caroline lugging her trunk down the stairs.

"I am exceptionally organized, yes I have everything." Caroline said, placing her cats in her bag, slinging it over her shoulder.

Tonks kissed Caroline's head, hugging her. "We'll see you at Christmas, yeah?" she said, and Caroline nodded. Tonks saw Caroline's hand twitching heavily, but she didn't comment on it.

Remus hugged her next, Caroline holding on tightly. "No punching anyone this term, even Draco Malfoy," Remus said, seeing Caroline's smile. "You promise?"

"I promise I will not punch anyone unprovoked." Caroline compromised, and Remus rolled his eyes with a smile.

"Remember to take your calming draught in the morning, sleeping draught at night. Practice with your hand, please." Remus instructed, Caroline nodded. She had everything written down, like a schedule so she didn't get unfocused and allow her mind to be empty enough for the dark thoughts to plague it.

Caroline unwound herself from her godfather, moving to the fireplace where they had put her trunk. She stepped inside and grabbed the Floo powder, saluting her godparents before she dropped the powder, shouting for the Burrow. Ginny's arms were wrapped around Caroline before she had even fully stepped out of the fireplace at the Burrow. She smiled, hugging Ginny back with one hand. "I missed you, too." Caroline said.
