-POV: Eloise-
El sat on the windowsill, staring out towards the forest beyond the rats' mansion home. It looked so beautiful, so peaceful, but she knew it wasn't. She had experienced it's chaos firsthand a few weeks ago, and she wasn't about to do it again.
As she watched a flock of birds fly by, she began to think about her life. She did realize that she and the rest of the rats were trapped here in a way, too afraid of the outside to leave the safe confines of the house, but really, she didn't mind it.
It was nice to always be in the safe embrace of the sturdy walls of her home, to have a great time with her friends.
It's a lot better than the life El would have if she was outside.
At first, when El first entered the huge building, she had though it boring, and uneventful. Quite quickly, the humans, cats, random visitors, and who knows what else proved that wrong. The house was a chaotic mess, but it was much safer than the predators and rough conditions of the forest.
The safety gave her time to enjoy the beautiful things in life. The way the breeze whistled through the branches of the nearby trees, how stunningly colourful the setting sun looked, and so many more other amazing things.
Speaking of the sunset, I think it's almost time for that already. El thought, directing her gaze away from the birds resting on the branches of a tree, and towards the sun.
It was about to began its glamourous descent below the horizon, and the little brown rat could see how the sky was beginning to darken and she could just barely pick out a star or two around the clouds drifting by.
As El sat, her ears picked up the sound of light footsteps behind her, but she didn't react. There was a short shuffling noise, and then another rat sat next to her. She felt a light weight on her paw that felt warm and soft.
El glanced over at them to find that it was Bek, also looking out over the horizon. The large rat's paw was set softly over hers as a kind, comforting, gesture.
Neither said anything for a long, quiet, moment. It wasn't an awkward silence though. It was... peaceful. She liked it, but after a little while Bek broke the silence.
"The sunset's rather pretty tonight isn't it?" She smiled, glancing at El.
The smaller rat nodded. "Yeah. The view's great too."
"I love how the clouds turn pink, and the sky goes all rainbow for a while before the sun disappears. All the stars appearing are really cool too." Bek gazed at the sky dreamily, her tail swishing softly.
She felt her face flush as Bek turned her head back to Eloise. "... Y-Yeah. Like the way that the fiery orange streaks across the sky like someone painted it there with a giant brush... And how the stars twinkle like tiny gems in distant worlds." Her tail curled up happily. "The sunset is really great."
The two rats lapsed into another long silence until Bek broke it again.
"You are... really good with words. Can you do that again?" She asked. The smaller rat blushed nervously, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand.
"I- Uh, thanks. Um- I love how the gradient of soft yellows, bold reds, and calm purples, can all come together to make this wonderful show. Nature's sky art inspires so many paintings, the way that the colours swirl and shine around the sun." El stared at the beauty at the horizon as she spoke.
"Each cloud is trimmed with an elegant shade of pink, and the sunbeams shine down in between those clouds, almost like the colour is spilling down the sky in those magnificent beams. It's truly gorgeous, but sadly, gone in an instant."
Bek and El stared at each other for another long, but still comfortable silence. The sun had finished setting, just leaving some purple and orange remains in the sky where it was.
Soon enough, her friend began to speak again. "Well... How're you doing in the house? Like- It's a bit of a mess."
"A bit?" El laughed "That's a huge understatement. I'm doing just fine, but a few of the others don't seem to be."
The other brunette cocked her head. "What do you mean?"
"Y'know, the whole thing where Scott nearly got killed and Tubbo got yelled at by Owen for doing that and also for apparently cannibalizing ratlings." El deadpanned.
"Pfft- Yeah, yeah, true. Also Tubbo threatening us with a 'shotgun' and Jimmy running around with a knife." Bek grinned. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Tubbo is absolutely unhinged. El laughed internally.
She made a small non-comital "hm" and the two rats went silent once again, looking up into the night sky, thinking about the nonsense that this mansion they were living in brought with it. The peaceful quiet lasted for easily half an hour, both thinking about the mess of rats, cats, people and other random creatures that caused this household to be so chaotic.
Sometimes I wish I could change this place. Maybe get rid of the cats, or possibly even just the people. El thought as she felt Bek's tail touch hers. She moved her gaze over to the other rat, staring into her warm chocolate brown eyes.
Bek cleared her throat a little "... This place is in shambles, and we all know it. But the thing is, like- without this stuff happening, we wouldn't really know each other." El felt her tail twine around the other rat's as Bek spoke. "And although this place is a train wreck..."
"I wouldn't want it any other way."

I'm not the best as writing fluff, but I hope this is decent enough. I just randomly had an idea, so I did this. I'm thinking maybe more OSMP next just because I am obsessed with that group :)
Bye!
