I'm listening to "Kill The Lights" by Alex Newell rn and I am VIBIN to the HIGHEST degree. I'd 100% recommend listening to it (I found it on the most recent Smajor MCC stream) :DDD

A knock came from the door. Jimmy didn't even look up, he knew what this was. It happened all the time. Someone would come into the shop, buy a "pet" and leave. Hopefully it wasn't him.

Muffled voices came from the front desk as the shop owner began to talk to these new clients, just like always. Chains rattled from the cages around him as other hybrids tried to watch them curiously.

There was nothing out of the ordinary today. Just another customer, He thought, staring down at his chained wrists. Just another creature taken.

That's what he thought, but apparently, he was wrong.

With a shriek of alarm, the shopkeeper was slammed into the cells beside Jimmy, slumping the the ground.

Oh, great. Now that lunatic is gonna steal us instead. He sighed, but looked up to watch. They're not gonna take me, at least. Nobody wants a bad omen. At the front door stood a tall, pink-haired, woman brandishing two long swords followed by a short brunette with a green streak in his hair.

He sighed as he watched her ransack the desk for keys, before quickly giving up and instead running towards the cages, raising her katanas. She was yelling something at the shopkeeper, but there was too much noise from the surrounding hybrids for Jim to hear her.

The man behind her stood back as she slashed at the locks, breaking them easily. He was watching her with a rather adorable lovestruck look on his face, smiling warmly. Lucky guy. Jimmy thought, flicking his tail as he watched.

Now that the woman got closer, it was clear that she was slightly different than your average human. She had cornflower blue fins where her ears would have been, pink-tinted eyes, and her fingers were webbed. Is she a siren? Mermaid? Surely not a hybrid, we respect the humans. He now watched her with some curiosity.

She sliced open another cage, letting free a young tiger neko, before calling to the man behind her. "Joel! I'm gonna need the big sword!" As she said this, she gestured to a considerably larger lock on the cage a few blocks down from Jim.

Moments later, the man, Joel, produced a larger, heftier, sword, and tossed it to her. She caught it and sliced the lock in one fluid motion, letting a hulking ravager hybrid run out of it.

The canary watched her in fascination as she sprung the next two hybrids, a fawn and a tiny owl, before she turned to him.

Her eyes went wide. "... Are you okay?" She pointed to the chains that littered his tiny cell. "That doesn't look... Nice."

Jimmy stared at her for a moment, trying to find out what she felt was wrong here. "... What do you mean?" His voice rasped horribly as he spoke. When was the last time I said anything? Weeks ago? Months? He didn't know.

"I mean- Like- That's a lot of chains." She nodded at him, handing one of the katanas to Joel, who continued freeing hybrids as she talked to Jimmy. "And you're kinda cramped in there. Can you even move your wings?"

He tipped his head to the side. "... No? They're bound. Like they should be."

The woman's brow furrowed. "No, they shouldn't be. You're a bird! You're built for the skies! Not a cage."
