You're already in bed by the time Chris gets home at just a little past twelve in the night. From your bedroom at the far side of the apartment, you can hear as she traipses through the apartment kicking off her shoes and rifling through the fridge before she finally lumbers down the hallway towards you.

She slips into the bathroom first, and you can hear her clothes hit the floor as she changes out of them and into the ones you'd left on the cabinet for her. The tap twists on and off with a squeak and fluorescent light from the bulb in there slips in under the bedroom door as she exits, and pads quietly across the hall to edge the door gingerly open so as to not wake you.

When she sees that you're awake, she audibly sighs with relief. Greeting you tiredly, she walks over and all but throughs herself down on the bed next to you - and just after you throw your phone down on the nightstand to go to her, she crawls over and flops down tiredly on top of you.

"Chris, baby." You say through a laugh, as she persists and cuddles into you in a rather koala-like fashion. "Do I look like a pillow to you?"

"In this light, kind of." She mumbles into your neck, before she raises her head and squints at you through the darkness. When she sees your halfhearted expression of disbelief, she grows incredulous and swats at your arm. "What?! I just came off a double shift, I deserve sleep!"

"And I'm not disputing that!" You fire back, a humoured smile growing on your face as you take in her petulant expression. Rubbing a hand affectionately up and down her back, you feel her relax under your touch even as she fixes you with an unimpressed look. "I'm just questioning if you need to get that sleep while on top of me."

You get a hint of a smile from her before she moves, and lays her head back down into the crook of your neck. Her hands finds purchase on your waist, and she brushes her fingertips across the skin where your shirt's ridden up as she nods into you. "Yes, I do."

"Can't argue with that logic." You acquiesce through a smile. She silently nods her approval as she gets comfortable over you, and kisses your neck sweetly in thanks as you pull the covers up over you both and she smiles into your embrace.
