Neteyam
Five days of nonstop travel. The air felt freeing and the forest called for the family. Yet after five days they had finally arrived to the Omatikaya clan, their village, their home. Neteyam felt at home the moment his Ikran hit the forest line, trees surrounding everything around them; but as they grew close to their clan his heart sped up.
He reminisced on their arrival to the Metkayina. How much he despised the journey, the way he wanted to turn back and come back to the forest. He remembered all of the emotions he had been feeling in those moments, like he'd give the world to come back home. And now he was.
Kireyi leaned against his back, arms around his waist while she slept. She had fallen asleep just before reaching the forest, switching between leaning on Neteyam and her brother. Neither minded, allowing the girl to rest. The boy brought his Ikran, Kenali, to a slow pace, brushing his fingers along Kireyi's arm.
Turning his head back he delicately spoke, trying not to startle her, "Kireyi.... wake up," His fingers continued to trace her skin, and she stirred some, squeezing his abdomen.
Looking to Aonung, the boy understood his intention and began helping, "Reyi, time to get up," Aonung helped unravel the girl's arms from Neteyam, leaning Kireyi against himself, "Go ahead and focus on flying, I'll wake this skxawng."
"We will be there very soon," Neteyam assured.
His eyes reveled on the forest, the greenery filling every corner, noise of life echoing through the environment. He missed everything so profusely, down to the smell of the air, and blatantly speaking, he couldn't believe he was back. A hiss from Kireyi took his attention, "Shut up Aon...."
"Just look at where we are!"
"My eyes aren't even fully open if you would give me a second," He felt the girl shuffle behind him, a gasp escaping her mouth, "Woah...."
"Have a good rest?" Neteyam teased the girl, Aonung snickering in the background. Though he didn't need to look back to hear the small huff she let out, "We are close."
His mother let out a call to her children, the three following her Ikran. It would only be a few minutes before they fully reached their people, and that time came quickly, diving into the caves entrance. Many of the Na'vi yelled in caution, calling for their Olo'eyktan, but as they saw those who approached; the ululations turned light. Neteyam made sure Aonung and Kireyi got off his Ikran safely, motioning for them to follow. The Metkayina stayed close together, Kireyi and Tsireya tied to their brother's hip; and Rotxo standing beside the three. Neteyam stayed close to Kireyi, remembering how he felt first arriving to her tribe, he didn't want the girl to feel the same. His mother held Tuk, and his other siblings also stood close.
Tarsem, the one left responsible for the Omatikaya approached, shock filling his face at the visitors. The family and Metkayina children greeted him, brushing their hands out and away from their brows, "Tarsem, Olo'eyktan. I see you," Neteyam's mother spoke.
"Neytiri, I see you. Why do you return? And with who?" Olo'eyktan's eyes trailed to the group, noticing the foreign Na'vi, sea people.
"Two wish to mate, and we come for peace. To train and give them passage as Omatikaya, so no war may start between the clans as it has sky-people," Neteyam took note of the Metkayina. Their bodies tense as all eyes were on them, not his family.
Before Tarsem could speak, Tsahik was now near, "I didn't expect my family to come back, and especially not for this reason."
"Mother, I see you," His mother greeted Tsahik, the woman chuckling.
"My daughter no need, show me those who wish to mate, this is a matter for Tsahik. No?" Everyone backed away, Neteyam stepping forward. He greeted his grandmother, Kireyi following, though she stood behind the boy some. Almost hiding. His grandmother hugged Neteyam, before moving him from Kireyi, "Come here young one."
His eyes darted back and forth between the two, not sure what his grandmother would say, "What is your name?"
"Kireyi...." Her voice was soft, and Neteyam could omly wonder what was running through the girl's mind at the moment.
Even as his grandmother inspected the girl- feeling her arms, brushing her hands gently over her hair. He didn't move, knowing it could cause problems. Seeing his grandmother's careful touch was the only thing indicating she had no ill-intent, and her eyes widened, a gasp escaping, "Who is your mother?"
"Ronal, Tsahik, and wife of Tonowari, Olo'eyktan of my clan."
"I could feel an energy, you are training as Tsahik aren't you young one?" Mo'at's hands held Kireyi's in her own as she spoke to the girl.
"Yes.... mother say's I am ready soon, she wishes to train me much more though." Whispers filled the air, and Neteyam could see Kireyi's ears stiffen. He inched closer by only a little, hoping the girl noticed.
His grandmother hummed, "She is correct. Will you be training with me too?"
Kireyi looked to Neteyam and his mother, not sure of what to say. His mother nodded and the young girl understood, "If you would allow it."
"Hm, alright then," His grandmother turned to Olo'eyktan, "Will you allow them to stay?"
Tarsem's eyes lingered on the family, "Yes, I trust your judgment as much as you trust mine." More whispers filled the air, especially as the Omatikaya's leader spoke up, "They will stay with us as long as they please! Provide them with the same care just as before, including their guests," He placed emphasis on the last bit, a slight warning to his clan.
"I will give all of the details privately, to both of you," Neteyam's mother's voice came out with slight authority.
"That is alright, things have changed here some however, so why don't you all show them around the caves as we discuss?" His grandmother let the teens, including Tuk off, and the Metkayina turned to the Omatikaya as they looked around.
Neteyam realized how close Kireyi grew to the boy, her tail brushing his arm as she looked to him for comfort now instead of her brother. He softly took her hand, "You did good Ma Reyi, don't worry."
Her big eyes looked to him, and she gave a one slow nod, "Alright...."
Tuk interrupted the moment, jumping into her brother's arms, "Let's go to the lab! Come on come onnn we have to show them the lab!"
"Okay Tuk, calm down," The group laughed at the young girl's reaction's, Kiri and Lo'ak beginning to lead them.
Neteyam tried to stick near Kireyi, and he badly wanted to go explore the forest again, visit all the small
places he loved and show it all to Kireyi. Though he couldn't for now, listening to his elder's instructions. Perhaps later though....His eyes took in the environment, and it looked so different. There were less tents- less people even, other than warriors and the sky-people. The boy wondered what happened, if they had maybe relocated or something similar. As they approached the labs though, it was a familiar scene, and they all had somewhat barged into the territory.
"Max! Norm!!" Tuk jumped from Neteyam's arms almost tackling the two men, their faces surprised at the guests.
Everyone continued speaking, and Kireyi was close to the boy once more, grasping onto his fingers. He let her play with his fingers, understanding that she was nervous. It showed with everything, her tail was low, ears twitching at every sound, "Are you okay?"
The girl's eyes shot up, and despite him needing.... well, wanting to comfort her, he could feel himself get lost in her eyes, "It is a lot.... I can see how you must've felt now."
"Well I am here to help, just as you did for me yeah?"
His hand tensed at the slight squeeze she gave, "Yeah, you're right."
Neteyam leaned in, "I will show you the forest later today, I promise," The breath from him speaking tickled the girl's ear, and she lightly giggled at the sensation.
"Okay," Her eyes didn't seem so worried anymore, stuck on the boy a few seconds before she turned to watch the others.
