CHAPTER SEVEN.
the oracle—— The next morning, Danica ate breakfast with Hermes cabin as usual, sitting between Travis and Connor Stroll. After that, while the Stroll brothers ran off to do who knows what, Danica was wondered down the path leading towards the Archery range. The black and silver ring she always wore, twirled around her fingers before transforming into the black and gold bow and arrow that Charles Beckendorf had made her two summers ago.
"Hey, Dani!" shouted Lee as he approached the Archery ranger, bow swinging from his shoulder as he strutted over. "What's up, Lee?"
Lee shrugged as he finally reached her, smiling brightly as he usually did. There was no dull moment with Lee Fletcher, he never let anything get to him and always had that silly bright smile.
"What are you doing here so early?" he questioned, eyebrow raised as he stood beside her, bow at the ready. "Might as well try and get some practice, we are going against the Hunters."
Lee laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I tried to get some of my siblings to come down here with me, but it's too early for them."
Danica chuckled and readied her bow, eye it up with the bullseye. The arrow was flying seconds later, it flew left and landed not far off from the bullseye.
Lee and Danica spent a couple hours practicing, eventually most of the Apollo kids came along and Danica was forced to give the archery range back to its owners.
She wondered about for a while, visited Lacy Colton by the Aphrodite cabin with Silena, she pasted by Lovie Warren and Michelle Yamada who were watering the plants around the Demeter cabin.
Night rolled around quickly and the excitement of capture the flag filled the atmosphere. The Hunters had only thirteen of them, including Bianca di Angelo, and unlike the night before their faces showed no sign of them having fun.
The campers consisted off Charles Beckendorf and two more campers from Hephaestus, a few from the Ares cabin and to Danica it felt weird not having Clarisse there to demand her to maim first ask questions later. The Stoll brothers, Nico, Danica, the Nike twins, and a couple more from the Hermes cabin. The Aphrodite kids who normally say our during these games (some tended to join in). Bambi Goodwin had to sit this game out and she was now beginning to regret helping Travis and Connor as the two had given her a broken arm.
"I'll show them 'love is worthless'," Silena Beauregard grumbled while Michelle Yamada helped her tighten the armour. "I'll pulverise them!"
"Danica? Where's the best place to hit?" Lacy asked her, coming up beside her with bows tied around her amour straps. "uh, I normally use my arrows, and go for their Achilles heel."
The girl nodded and walked over to Silena to tie the purple ribbons around her armour.
"Danica, you hit the trees. Stay within the shadows, you're best there. Check every inch around offence." Thalia told her.
Danica nodded, "yes, ma'am." she grabbed her bow and swung it around her shoulder before she walked to the large tree in front of her. She gripped the branches and hoisted herself up until she made it a safe distance away from the ground. She was thankful she'd changed the jeans she had been wearing into shorts, even though it was freezing outside. The night had always been her time to shine, it was when she was most powerful.
As the night went on, the cold breeze that stung and nipped at her bare arms became nothing as the numbness had settled over. During the time she'd spent up in the large tree, she'd watched Lovie, Laurel and Jason go off with Silena, they were the three best runners at camp.
