CHAPTER ELEVEN.
mount othrys

—— Danica slammed the van door shut with a groan, her body ached after sitting in the back seat for far too long. Grover pointed to the building beside the mall, Thalia nodded and the group began walking towards it.

Danica started walking, rolling her body out as she did so, she stopped when she felt the hair stand up on nape of her neck. Thalia turned around to her. "Dani? What is it?"

Danica shook her head, eyes darting around the street. "I'm going to take a look around, I have a feeling we're not alone."

Thalia stared at her, she couldn't feel anything but she trusted Danica's gut instincts. "Don't tire yourself out."

As Thalia begun walking again to catch up, Danica found a nearby ally way, it was day out so barely any places held big enough shadows. The ally had a dumpster, it casted a big shadow behind in. Danica held her nose as she drifted into her natural habitat. Shadow travelling was her favourite way to travel now that she'd mastered it. Driving in a car half way across America with Zoe Nightshade driving...was definitely not.

She emerged from the shadows as she felt herself grow closer to whoever was watching them. She knew it wasn't Percy, she'd know if it was him. Dr Theon was here, and he was currently walking towards where her friends were. Maybe Danica should have listened to Thalia, but she rarely did. She was growing tired, it was day time and she knew she was pushing her luck. But her friends were going to be in real danger if she didn't, so she pushed through the exhaustion that was creeping up on her. When she travelled, she failed to pictures her friends and ended up in the a dinosaur museum.

A loud, booming crowd was heard. "Where is she? The daughter of the night?

Danica froze, goosebumps filling her skin as a shiver was sent down her spine. The next voice caused her to whip her head around. "She's here..."

Danica stepped out of the shadows, her gray, starry eyes darkening. "I see you've realised that we can help you, Dani...i know what you want, and i can give you it."

Danica shook her head. "You don't know what i want."

"Revenge. You want revenge. On your dad. Your mom, Nyx. You want them to feel what you felt, always treating you like a monster...for think you were a danger to everyone."

Danica let herself falter for a second, her body becoming loose. Luke did know what she wanted, and she felt sick for admitting to herself that what he said was in fact what she wanted.

Luke nodded to two men off to the side, but Danica wasn't stupid. The bracelet unclamped itself, transforming into the long, bronze sword she so rarely used. Her sword clashed against theirs, they were mortals, no matter how much damage she caused, it didn't matter...the blade didn't hit them. They could harm her. Both muscular men had celestial bronze swords and they were damn good at using them. While she was busy fighting the bald one with sleeves of tattoos, the other took the opportunity to cut her cheek. She winced at the sharp pain, having not felt it in a while, whipping the blood off her face and stumbling back, the man she was fighting originally took his chance.

Danica fell to her knees, the new cut on her ankle bleeding heavily. "Fuck you, Luke!"

She looked up at him, the stars burned in her eyes. She wanted out. She needed out. But she couldn't. Injured and exhausted, with no way to warn her friends. Danica raised her hands, they stopped moving, expecting her to try and shadow travel out. Instead, two shadow figured came stomping towards them, swords at the ready. The two buff men fell flat on the ground, unconscious and in a nightmare filled sleep.
