Chapter 11

Kim woke up to a beeping sound.. he was relaxed and comfortable.. he felt well-rested but he was a tad sore.. and the side of his face hurt when he moved...

he blinked his eyes open and stared at the ceiling and then all that happened the previous day came crashing down..

he looked to his right to find Kamol in the same state.. Beeping of the machine was the only indicator of his life ..

Day and Itt were resting on the visitor's couch...

He made to get up slowly without a sound and moved to sit in the chair by Kamol's bed.. he took in his appearance.. he looked terribly pale.. and bruised.. there was a huge bandage peeking from under the hospital gown on his right shoulder.. many wires and tubes were already pumping fluids, blood and medicine into his system...

Kim felt his heart squeezed painfully...

He heard the door open softly and saw Khom make his way in followed by Ruj, whose eyes widened when he took stock of the room and then filled with worry..

"Khom..."

"Good Morning.. Master Kim... are you alright ?"

"I am fine.. What's the matter ?"

Khom smirked and japped at sleeping Day, who jerked awake along with Itt..

"Staying all night, I see...", Chuckled Khom

"Don't be mean dude.. oh... Kim, are you awake ?"

Kim nodded in puzzlement..

Itt yawned and then explained..

"We made an agreement, Khom slept and he should be here now to stay with you guys.. I will head back home and I will see you later tonight.."

"you don't have to.."

"don't be silly.. We will not leave you guys alone.."

Kim smiled softly at them and bid them goodbye.. Ruj walked into the room ..

"Master Kim.. Are you alright ?"

"Yes, Is Lop out of Danger yet ?"

"Don't worry about him, sir.. he is as good as new.. he is enjoying being taken care of for the time being, while i doubt that Kit is on a mission to make sure he hates every moment of it.."

Kim chuhcled despite himself.. it felt good to be surrounded by people.. despite how terrible the situation.. he still had family.. Kamol still has a family.. a makeshift one but family nonetheless..

Ruj handed him a handbag..

"What is this ?"

"Auntie Nee says get well soon to both of you, this is a change of clothes for you.. you might need to shower sir.."

Khom chuckled this time.. Ruj was providing comic relief.. despite his worry...

"I don't think it would be..."

"Just go.. we are not leaving him.. the doctor will not check on him for another hour or so... it's still so early in the morning.. shower and come back.. I don't think he will be going anywhere.." Khom reasoned..

Kim looked at him in mock surrender and left for the adjacent bathroom..

Ruj sat on the spot Kim was occupying..

"He looks bad, Khom.. "

"He will pull through.. He is tougher than this.. and he has a promise to fulfill.. so I believe it's only a matter of time before he is up and running.."
