kiara pov:

"are you ready to provide for the family?" jj asks me. i laugh. "let's go kill something" he says. "you don't have to say it like that" i say. "it's true, it's the circle of life ki, unless you wanna eat coconuts forever" he says. "after the past month, i think i'm good on coconuts" i laugh, as me and jj walk down towards the water. i twirl the stick round as jj takes shirt off. i try my best not to look, but it's tempting. he wraps it around his stick when we get to the water. we stand with our feet in, looking for fish. i haven't actually spearfished yet, but i've practiced. jj's been teaching me. "you ready?" jj asks me. i look up and down his chest, i caved. i was trying not to but his abs are so attractive... no no no. he realises i'm looking, because he smirks. i nod. "alright" he says, looking me up and down. "remember to watch the shadows, that'll scare them off" he says. we look at the water and jj points out a big fish thing. "ki, ki right there, it's yours" he says. i nod and get ready to stab the stick through it. i take a deep breathe, but back up. i shake my head. "i can't , i can't" i say. jj tries to stab it but he misses. "damn it! i missed, where is it!?" he says, scanning the ground. i spot it and without thinking twice, i stab my spear through it. i look up and jj is smiling. "oh my god" i say. "you did it! oh my god you did it!" he says, i hug him and he hugs me back, my hand round his neck and his on mine back. i laugh. "oh shit!" i say, handing the fish to jj. "yes ki!" he shouts. "woohoo!". i laugh. he starts walking up the sand and i follow him. "i can't believe i did it!" i say. "that's my girl!" jj says. "you did it!". "yeah!" i say. we walk back up to john b and sarah. sarah is, again, crafting some better beds, from grass, sticks and leaves, and john b is collecting sticks for fires and stuff. "i did it!!" i shout when we see them. "oh my god!" sarah says, looking at the stick with the fish on the end in jj's hand. "yes ki!" john b says, and we do our handshake. sarah stands up and hugs me. "you did it!?" she says. "i did it!" i laugh. i love how proud everyone is of me. it's cute. i don't know where cleo and pope are, i think they're looking for berries. "come on" i say to sarah, grabbing her hand. "where are you going!?" john b calls. "girl talk!" i call, "again!?" jj calls. "yeah!" sarah calls.

jj pov:

"again?" i turn to john b. he shrugs his shoulders. "didn't they just have a little girl gossip like this morning?" i say, putting the fish down next to the fire, on the little table thing sarah made out of sticks and leaves. "they've been having them loads lately" john b says. i nod. "yo, can you help me grab some more sticks?" john b says, walking towards the trees. "yeah" i say, following him. i know that kiara and sarah are talking about boys, most likely me and john b, but they've been doing it loads lately. it worries me a little. what if it's bad about me? like what if i did something wrong? john b grabs a few twigs from the ground and i do the same, but they're really small and thin. "let's go a bit further" i say. "so we can try and find some better sticks" i say, holding the thin branch in my hand. he nods and i throw the twig on the floor, then follow him. "right. jayj" john b says. "watup?" i say. "well, since they're talking about us, why don't we talk about them? did anything happen while you two were down there?" he says. i shake my head. "not really, just spearfished. i mean we hugged but that's not really big. what about you and sarah? i know you sneaked off last night" "oh yeah uh, we went for a erm walk, yeah a walk" he says. i raise an eyebrow. "we all know what you really did" i say. "oh yeah? well what about you and ki? when we got back she was in my bed? next to you?" he says. "after you two woke us up.." i say, grabbing a few sticks, "we couldn't sleep. we went and sat on a rock and talked for a bit, then she just went in you bed instead" i say. "what did yous talk about?" he says, "not much" i reply. he raises an eyebrow. "i asked her what's going on between us. like what we are" i say. "and?" he says. "she didn't say anything" i say. he nods. "well, do you like her?" he asks, even though he already asked me that the other day. "i already told you bro, i've liked her since we met her, but i'm not good enough for her" i say. just then we're interrupted by a scream. my heart drops. i look at john b, he looks back. we both drop the sticks and run back to where the girls were. we run through the trees and to the beach. we look towards the water where sarah and ki were when we left, but they're both gone. "ki!" i yell. "sarah!!" john b shouts. "kiara!!" i yell. my heart is pounding. "what happened!?" pope says, coming behind us. "kiara!!" i yell at the top of my lungs. "there!" cleo says, running to the left. we follow her and see kiara and sarah standing at the top of the rock next to the water. "what!? what happened!" pope says. sarah points to the floor, at a crab. "are you serious?" john b says. "it's literally just a crab" pope says. i sigh. "please please get rid of it" kiara says. cleo picks it up and throws it in the water. "jesus christ" cleo says, shaking her head. "you scared the hell out of us! we thought something had happened" i say. "crabs are scary!" sarah says. "did you need to scream though?" i say. "yes actually i did" she says. "okay okay okay" john b says, holding his hand out for sarah. she takes it and climbs down the rock. they walk back and i walk towards kiara. i hold my hand out. "sorry, we didn't mean to scare you" she says, putting her hand on mine. "it's fine, as long as you're okay" i say, helping her off the rock. she smiles at me. i smile back. "okay, yall. i am so done with squatting for berries. time to swap jobs" cleo says, "okay well, me and ki can do it" i say. ki nods. "alright" pope says. jj and pope do the handshake and we all go our separate ways again.

kiara pov:

me and jj walk down the path that we went down last time. "there's probably some berries round here somewhere" i say. "yeah" jj nods. "remember to watch the stick i caught my arm on last time" i say. my arm is a little bit better now, but it still stings a bit. we follow the path through the bushes, until we get to the pointy stick. jj grabs the bottom of it and snaps it back, so it's no longer sticking out. we continue walking, past where we stopped and turned back last time, and we eventually, after like thirty minutes of walking, we find a bush with berries. "finally!" jj says. we both begin picking the berries, i put them in this little bag thing that sarah made out of my shirt that i had over my bikini on the ship. when it's full, i tie it, and me and jj eat a few before going back. "i'm so tired" i sigh. "same" he says. we walk back through the bushes and back to the ledge we have to climb up. jj stands to the side and motions for me to go up. "i honestly don't know if i can, i have literally no energy" i wheeze. "im behind you. i'll help you" he says. i nod and begin walking up. he waits until im a ledge above him, then he steps up. he puts his hands on the back of my waist again, pushing me up the cliff. i get that feeling in my stomach again, like butterflies. we slowly climb up, and after what feels like hours, but is really minutes, me make it to the top. it's already late because it's dark, so we try to hurry. we go through the path and back to the cave. "look who's finally back!!" pope shouts. i wave with the last bit of energy that i have left inside of me. "you good??" john b says. "dying" i say. "ah" he laughs. i sit on the ground next to sarah and breathe really heavily. "ki... seriously are you okay?" she says. i nod. "just tired, we walked so far. but we found berries" i say, holding the bag up. i place it on the ground and steady my breathing. jj sits down next to pope. after a few minutes we decide to go to bed. usually, it takes me a few minutes to actually sleep. but i'm so tired that i just fall asleep right away.
