A New Journey

11. A new Companion

hello everyone for several reasons it took longer than expected to write the chapter. one of them was a writing blockade. I knew the beginning and the end of the story but had a hard time with the middle part. well ten days after the planned release date it is finally online. I hope you will like it.

A new day begins in Musichabour-city and Serena and Ash sit at a table in the restaurant of the hotel where they sleep. Serena poked thoughtfully in her omelet, which did not pass unnoticed by Ash. Without beating around the bush, Ash asked, "What's wrong Serena? You look glum." "I know Gary from somewhere, but I don't know where." Serena whispered to herself.

"Well Gary is Daisy's little brother and Prof. Oak's grandson plus he's a good Pokémon trainer so it's possible you saw him on TV." Ash replied to the quiet words that left his girlfriend's mouth.

"Wait, did I just say that out loud?" asked Serena, a little embarrassed.

"yes you did" Ash teases Serena.

After Serena got over her embarrassment she said "it's more like I've met him in person before but I don't know where."

"He was with us at summer camp maybe from there." Answered Ash bluntly.

"Yes!! now I know where I know him from. A day after the Poliwag incident, I wanted to give you your handkerchief back ..."

(Flashback)

Serena *somewhat sheepishly*: "where is he" *looks around* "ah there he is"

*Serena runs over to Ash with the handkerchief in her hand*.

Serena: "ehm sorry"

*Ash turns in the direction of Serena's voice*.

Ash: "Ah you're the girl from yesterday! Are you feeling better?"

Serena: "yes! thanks for asking. Ehm, I wanted to give you that back..."

Gary: "ashy boy are you coming now"

Ash: "oh Gary, I'll be right there"

Gary *takes Ash's hand*: "No you come now. I already got in trouble yesterday because of you." *Notices Serena* "sorry if he annoyed you".

*Ash and Gary left*

Serena: "but I just wanted to give him his tissue" *she slumped disappointedly. *

(Flashback ending)

"...the next day I went back to Kalos and we didn't see each other again until we were 16" Serena told slightly sadly

"So that's how it was back then." Spoke ash.

Serena and Ash continued to eat until all of a sudden Serena stopped again and asked Ash, "Ash what's with the cheerleaders?"

Ash taken aback by Serena's question told her the story of Gary's cheerleaders. They both had to laugh out loud from the story and lost track of time. Ash realized at 11:30 that they needed to leave slowly to be at the Pokémon Center on time at 12 to battle Gary. When they finally arrived at the Pokémon Center, Gary was already waiting.

"Well Ashy boy are you coming" Gary said slightly annoyed.

"Sorry breakfast took longer." Ash replied smiling and scratching the back of his head knowing it wasn't the food that was holding them up.

"Well now you're here. So how about a battle 1 on 1 everyone has only one Pokémon. I want to see what the Kalos Champ is made of!" said Gary, who already had his Pokeball in hand and held it out in Ash's direction.

"I'd love to, but I want to see if your journeys have made you better...I still won our last battle." Said Ash confidently, tossing up his currently only Pokeball and catching it as it fell.
