Chapter 24: I'm Sorry Four

Four POV
2 days later.

As I sit in Tris' room, a shitty gift store novel on my lap. I ponder on how we are going to get Tris out of the hospital. A few weeks ago the hospital's staff started to ask questions about Tris while she was in her coma. I just stared at them while Christina told them some story about how during her arrest she fell and we need to take her back to prison once she makes some sort of recovery.

Yesterday I called Tori and asked if she could do me a favour. She happily agreed and tonight, Tris is going home. But at the moment she's asleep, she looks peaceful. She's only woken up to eat and drink, stuff like that. I wasn't there for that, nobody was. They told us to go home and I was only allowed in some of the time, all because I'm not family.

I look up from the book that I wasn't really reading and look towards the bed. Tris just shuffles sometimes. I always think she's going to wake up but she just doesn't.

But obsersely I was wrong, her eyes clamp shut for a brief moment and then they suddenly open. She looks into my eyes for a moment and her eyes move to look over my features. "Hey, your awake, how are you feeling." I say to try to cut through the tension in the room.

"I'm okay Four, how long have you been here?" She replies trying to sit up. "A few hours or so. Christina went home to get you a change of clothes." I smile at her while standing up and moving closer to her. "Did you want anything?" I ask her grabbing her hand softly and giving it a kiss. She just shakes her head no.

After a minute she looks up from our hands and looks up at me, a small smile playing on her lips. "Actually there may be something you could do, lie with me?".

I smile as she shuffles over. I move so that I'm now squeezed in beside her. My arm around her and her head on my chest. As I was just about to fade into sleep I swear I could hear Tris whisper 'I'm going to miss this'. I wonder what she meant.

A few hours later I'm woken by a tap to the shoulder. As my eyes fly open, I find that Tris is no longer beside me and Christina stands next to me beside the bed. She looks at me questionably. ''What are you doing dude? Come on we have to go." I move immediately sitting up and hopping off the bed to my feet. I move to the door and I open it softly to find a women in the hallway.

Her raven black hair shines in the dull light of the hospital hallway. Her backs to me so I can't see her face but to my luck she starts to turn around when the sound of the door shutting alerts her. I breath a sigh in relief when I see it's Tori. She smiles and walks quickly to embrace me in a hug. "It's time for her to go, Christina's getting her dressed." She pulls back and smirks at me. "Saw you guys asleep, honestly it's like nothing's changed." I smile in agreement.

Suddenly the door flies open and Christina and Tris emerge with backpacks. "Tori what time is it?" Christina whispers. Tori looks down at the watch on her wrist and looks back up. "8:34, were on schedule. Let's go."

As we walk through the hospital, Tori turns around suddenly. "Almost forgot." She smiles taking out handcuffs and secures them around Tris' wrists and moves Tris so she walks in front of Tori. Christina and I walk behind them.

After going through the officers station we get to the car when Tori removes Tris' handcuffs and sits her in the back seat with me beside her. After an hour or so drive we get to the house and are greeted by the gang in the backyard.

"Hey welcome back Tris!" Zeke and Shauna yell at Tris from in front of the barbecue. Lynn comes over and gives Tris a hug before going to sit down next to Uriah and Marlene who hasn't seem to have noticed where back.

Once Lynn touches the couch Uriah and Marlene jump apart and look around till they get to Tris and I. "Oh sorry Uriah, did we interrupt you eating Marlene's face off." Tris laughs walking down to hug them, I walk a little behind. "Not at all Tris I'm glad to see your back." He gushes back.

After eating an extremely late dinner the group just sits out the back drinking and talking. Couples grouped together under their own separate blankets. Tris looks up at me, a sad look on her face makes me think the worst. "Hey can I talk to you for a minute?" she moves and stands up telling the group that we'll be back soon and starts walking inside to our bedroom. "What's happening?" I ask her as she stands in front of me. "Look Four I think I should be completely honest with you." She takes a deep breath. "While you where with Jeanine." She looks me in the eye.

"Four, I slept with Eric." ....
