34- Love turned into stubbornness

Lucifer's pov

The officer took a glance towards his watch and looked back at us. We all were on edge and wanted to know the reason as soon as possible. He got a call and picked up instantly, talked for a few seconds and hanged up. "Sorry it was an important call" he apologized.

Finally he spoke, "when he got rejected for the second time, he couldn't handle it well. He went into depression and started medications. It didn't help him and his condition got worse. After a year he was admitted in a mental asylum. Few years later he recovered a little and escaped the asylum."

He took a breath and continued, "he went searching you and found you with your family living a happy life. He wanted to snatch your happiness, your daughter that's the reason he took those actions. Once he got to know you have away your daughter, he forced them to abuse her and payed then a hefty amount."

This was such a shock to me. How can a lover turn into a psycho. I will always love Anna with all my heart but if she would have chosen someone else I would have happily accepted it. Harming her or making her cry would have never been the way out. His love turned into stubbornness and made him take this actions.

I turned my head to look over my family members. Anna looked lost, maa looked broken and paa looked disgusted by the truth. I can't imagine what are they three going through right now but I know I want to be all the support they require. I called for Papa's attention and he looked my way.

"Paa we should ask what maa and Anna wants to do about this" my face definitely had the emotions Papa's face contained. The most important girl of our lives is in a turmoil and we can't do anything other than supporting. After some thought he nodded his head and touched mom's shoulder.

I squeezed Anna's hands to get her attention and she startled. My heart pained to see her so broken and lost. Paa called for her attention and she turned his way. "Whatever you and your maa decides after this will be done dear, you can tell us" I agreed with him and we waited for them to tell us what should be the next step.

That's when Anna spoke up with quivering voice, "I want to see them all, I want to face them for the last time before filing a case." My eyes widen for a second, I don't want my wife to face her nightmare again but this was her choice to make and I won't stop her. She turned my way with pleading eyes and I assured her.

"As papa said whatever you decide we will support you Anna. Officer are they allowed to meet them? Is it safe?" I didn't wanted maa or Anna to get harmed. The officer shook his head and replied, "no they are handcuffed and cannot harm anyone. You two can be with them too and there will be other officers watching them."

We nodded our heads and followed him to another room where the three of them were locked up. Maa went ahead and asked the unknown man, I assume her ex-lover, "why did you do this to me and my family? Didn't I tell you I was happy? Didn't you love me enough to let me go?"
He didn't reply and maa continued to cry for few seconds before informing him, "I'll make sure you rot in the jail for the rest of your life."

She turned and collapsed in Papa's arms while Anna got closer to them. I was right behind her if incase anything goes wrong. She wiped the year that toned down her cheek and went towards Mrs.Adams, "you were a woman, you could have got me out of this then why didn't you do it?" she waited for the woman to reply but it seemed like she was not gonna answer.

A few seconds later she whispered, "it was hard to help because he was watching us like a hawk. I wanted to inform your real parents but I knew nothing about them. I wanted to save you because even I have a daughter and I would never want her to go through this but I was scared. I was scared if I let you out, you will be in the hands of this monster. I was happy to keep you in front of my eyes."

She sniffed and shook her head before continuing, "I tried to be nice with you once when you were younger but he had installed cameras and caught the act. I wanted to stop the sexual abuse you went through but he wanted you to suffer. If I had protected you he would have kidnapped Julia. I asked Julia to be nice with you at school, that will be the only way to show you affection."

She started crying hysterically and took a few minutes to compose herself, "but I was wrong, the day Julia had lunch with you and complimented it she came home wounded. She was beaten up and had a threat note that said "don't be nice". We decided to never help you out of this because it was a danger to us also. This dilemma led to being drunk and end up hurting you more. I'm sorry I never helped you out but I'm ready to take the punishment."

She completed her apology with a teary eyed smile. I can't believe people go through so much in their life. There is crime everywhere around us. Anna nodded her head and returned to me before whispering, "can we get out of here please" I didn't respond to it I just took her out. Back in the room where we were seated Anna announced, "whatever punishments they deserve according to the law, they shall recieve."

We thanked the officer and said goodbyes to maa and papa before returning home. Anna looked exhausted and it really was a long day for us. She looks pale so we decided to take as much rest as possible. There must be a lot going on in Anna's head but I would try and console her or even divert her attention from this ongoing problem.

Dear God, Anna have went through enough since her childhood. Please subside her pain and give her the strength to overcome the bad days. I'll make sure Anna don't have to face anything like this ever again. I look on the right side where my wife is sleeping peacefully snuggled at my side. May she have nights without nightmares henceforth onwards. Her scared gave breaks my heart into million small pieces. I love her so much.
