TWO MONTHS SKIP:

After a week the lionesses went back to their clubs. Lucy and Keira went back to Barcelona. (I didn't want to make them stay in Manchester). But...what happened with Mel?

MEL POV:

Robbie and I were smoking pot on a side walk. My knee got better after a month and I was able to walk without crutches. I still couldn't play, but I was able to walk. My therapy sessions were now held only once or twice a week. I think most of you are wondering what's happening with my father and why he didn't come to get me on that particular day....

Flashback:

I was walking home from the hotel after Beth and Jordan released me.

As I opened the door I saw my dad's car in the parking lot. Which means he was home.

I walked inside slipped my shoes off and made my way slowly oncrutches. I went to my room where I sat my things down and went to kitchen to cook something for myself.

„How was school?" was the first question my father asked as he walked into the kitchen. My eyes fell on his hand. He was holding a bottle of whiskey. It was half way done.

„Why are you drinking?" I asked, looking down atthe sandwich I was making.

He sighs and placed the bottle on the counter: „ It was a long day at work." I just nod. There is no way I'm fighting him while he's drunk.

„So how was school?" He asked again with a questionable face.

„It was fine I got a B from Biology." I said while showing him my phone.

He gave me a drunken smile and said: "That's my girl." He brushed my cheek and gave me a kiss on my forehead. It took everything in me not to turn back.

„I will drive you to school tomorrow okay?" He was already walking away from me.

„Yeah like today." I whispered to myself, but it was loud enough for him to hear.

„What did you say?" He turned around looking at me.

„There's nothing wrong," I said in a shaking voice.

„No what did you really say Birdy?" He asked while walking dangerously slowly towards me. I cursed under my breath.

My confidence grew as I said, "That you had promised to take me to school yesterday, but didn't." I said. When I look at it now I should have stayed quiet.

„Oh... I'M SORRY I MISS HAVE TO WALK TO SCHOOL. I'M BUILDING A LIFE FOR YOU. CAN'T YOU SEE?" He raised his voice and grabbed my arm. I hissed under his touch.

Trying to escape his grip, I said, "You are hurting me.".

„DON'T SPEAK TO ME LIKE I'M YOUR FRIEND DO YOU HEAR ME?" he pushed me. I would probably have been able to make it out without falling if my leg was healthy, but since it wasn't, I fell into the cabinet door. He walked away without saying anything more.

I grabbed my phone and quickly scrolled to one contact. My finger floated around the green button.

Despite this, my mind had a different idea: Let it be that she has a game tomorrow. Don't bother her.

With that I slowly stood up. In spite of the fact that I was no longer hungry, I took my sandwich and went to bed, even though my head was pounding.

End of flashback....

„Yo Mel you there?" Robbie shook his hand in front of my face.

My cigarette was smothered on the pavement as I stood up and said, "Yeah, sorry, I just zoomed out.".

„You know, zooming out is a sign of ADHD?" He said smirking.

In response, I continued to walk. "Yeah, I know, but I don't have ADHD. You just have an imagination that imagines things that aren't real." I said.

„Nah I'm just high." He said catching up with me. As a response to his comment, I only nodded and remained silent.

While we were supposed to walk to school three hours ago, who cares. We are just in time for the fourth period to begin. Math again. How come everytime I come to school be a math day.

Prior to the ring going off, we walked into the classroom and sat at the back of the room. On the way through the room my eyes met JJ. We haven't talked in a while. Probably because of me. We had a fight when she found out I was now actively smoking weed and making trips to parties. She said I should concentrate on getting back on the field. Yeah she's right about that, but I can do both. She also thinks me and Robbie are dating. And she sounds jealous I guess for some reason.

As soon as the teacher arrived, he wrote an A linear equation on the board.

"Who wants to solve this?" I tried to conceal myself as best I could.Being in front of the entire class is not my favorite thing to do.When I become anxious, I forget everything I have ever known. And we can't use calculators which brings me to the point I have no idea how to solve mathematical fractions without a calculator. And in this equation there were three of them.

„No one? Okay so what about Melissa?" My heart dropped. My palms became sweaty.

„No thank you, I don't know." I said. Maybe I sounded somewhat arogant but i really had no idea.

„So? You can learn it by going here." She raised her eyebrow at me and I knew I had to.

After standing up, someone called out, "I'll go." They went before I or the teacher could react.

The teacher nodded and I sat down. Suddenly, I realized who saved me. It was JJ. As always, she's here to save me. She then did the math problem and as she walked to her seat she smiled at me. I smiled back. I miss her....

After forty-five minutes of hell we were all able to leave and go to lunch. I stepped outside close to the field and watched the girls practice. It was beyond sad to just watch from afar, but I couldn't get over the pain that I felt becauseI couldn't play.

After lighting up a cigarette, I brought it close to my mouth. As soon as the nicotine filtered through to my lungs my body immediately relaxed. I sat down on the grass behind the tribunes so no one could see me.

When my phone lit up, I was enjoying my cigarette and bagel I made in the morning. It was an unknown number. I declined. Why would I pick up a number I don't recognize.

Turns out I should have....
