MEL POV:
I woke up in a bed again. I wasn't sure I wokeup for the first time. Is it possible that I dreamed about Leah's mom and breakfast?Flashback?
I carefully turned around so that I could see Leah next to me. She wasn't there.
I sat up and put my feet on the edge of the bed.
I heard some noise downstairs so I decided to peek my head and try to hear something.
Obviously, I hadn't heard anything...
I slowly walked down the stairs to the living area.
I immediately froze in myplace when I saw who was seated on the sofa.
They made eye contact with me. Lucy smiled at me as Keira waved my way. Suddenly an anger took over me. Leah broke our promise. She promised me that she would not tell Lucy.
I just looked at Leah who had guilt written all over her face: „ You broke our promise." I just said and walked back upstairs without looking back.
I walked back upstairs to the room where I found my clothes and backpack from yesterday. I quickly changed and grabbed my jacket. The cigarettes Robbie left in my pocket fell out of it.
I rushed down to pick them up, but a hand on my wrist stopped me: „ Don't even think about it."
I looked up and noticed Lucy's eyes hidden behind her glasses. I yanked my hand out of her grip. She quickly grabbed the pack and threw it in the bin next to the door.
„Smoking really? You know what it can do to you?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes: „They aren't mine."
I can tell she doesn't believe me. She raises her eyebrow: "Okay." I see she doesn't believe me, but she doesn't tell me.
„Hey, I'm glad to see you walking. How's the knee?" She smiled.
„It's fine," I mumbled. I wanted to walk past her to escape the tension building in the room. But she blocked my way.
„Aren't you glad to see me?" she asked. I nod my head. Of course I was happy to see her, but I would gladly meet her in a different situation.
„I need to go to school." I said when she sighed and let me pass through her. I quickly took the stairs. I saw the girls still sitting in the living room with Leah's mum too.
„Thank you for your hospitality Miss Williamson, but I need to go to school now." I quickly said and didn't even wait for a response, so they didn't stop me.
I literally ran through the front door and started running away. I didn't hurry to school, however. Nor the group home.
I ran home. I had nowhere else to go, no one else to turn to. I needed to feel safe and the only place I could think of was the place I knew best - home.
==================================
Two hours later.....
I was sitting on the sidewalk staring into the space. Miss Donna, the crazy lady in a group home, called me. I have no idea where she got my number from, but I don't care. She told me I had an hour to return or there would be consequences.
That was half an hour ago.I wanted to go into my house, but it was looking. It has replaced the lock on the door and the broken windows were repaired too.
But it still looked the same. My home. Ex-home or whatever.
I was wondering how my dad was doing. If he is okay and safe.
I felt someone sitting next to me. I turned my head and saw a person I didn't know I wanted to see the most.
JJ....
She didn't say anything, just hugged me tightly. I closed my eyes and relaxedinto hers.
She whispered: „It's okay." And kissed the side of my head.
After another few minutes she helped me up and we walked towards the group house. We heldhands. It felt pleasant.
Although she didn't ask me anything, the man in front of the group house couldn't let her in because the open hours hadn't started yet. So we said our goodbyes.
When we stepped out of our hug, our faces stayed close.
She looked into my eyes....
It was her lips that caught my attention...
She did the same....
We started to lean in....
Before anything else could happen, Miss Donna walked outside.
„Melissa come on." She yelled and we quickly dispersed, none of us saying anything. She smiled awkwardly and walked away leaving me standing there.
Following the lady inside, I sighed and followed her.
Her message to me when she led me into her office was, "You didn't tell me you were gay.".
„You have a problem?" I asked defensively.
„Well it's against nature, but do what you want." I raised my eyebrows at her, but I kept my mouth shut.
„Now, we have potential adoptive family for you." I didn't say anything, my brain couldn't decide if it was good or bad.
„They will take you for a try three weeks tomorrow morning." Now I felt terrified. How is that possible?
„You will behave. DO.YOU.UNDERSTAND?!"
I nod my head. She dismissed me so I proceeded to the room where I previously cried and sat down on the bed. There was no one there thankfully. So I just sat down on the bed and spaced out.
==================================
The next day I had breakfast and some people helped me pack my suitcases which I had just unpacked two days ago. It felt really pathetic.
I walked down the stairs to the door followed by the man who carried my suitcase.
Miss Donna stopped me in my tracks.
„Remember what we discussedyesterday? They are very polite."I nod.
She let me walk to the reception where the people were supposed to be.
But when I saw who it was I froze.
„You have to be kidding me-" I said.
