A/N: Sorry for being away for so long!! I seriously wish my schedule stayed constant, where I can finish all my stories I'm writing. Anyway! Here's the next Chapter. And I went and changed a bit in Chapter 6. Mostly the heights between Alex and his Dad. Enjoy!!
The morning after our family incident I woke up sore and tired. I gently touched my cheek, the spot where I had been punched, and winced. It was most likely swollen and completely purple and black. I began to sit up and once more winced, clenchin my fists and silently cursing under my breath. I lifted my shirt just enough to see another bad looking bruise on my rib. 'I'll have to take it easy today.' Before I could move any from my spot on the bed I heard a groan from the floor. I looked over the side of my bed and saw Cody stirring. He let out a yawn before blinking his eyes and rolling over on his stomach. Then pushed himself up with his arms and sat on his knees stretching.
I remained quiet as I watched him. And I watched him try and wake up I noticed now his features. Smooth black hair that was cut short, but was long enough to grab. 'To grab?' I looked more. His eyes were still as gold as they were when he was a cat and he had some muscle tone in his arms. Most likely in his legs too. And although, I myself had tan skin, he had a tan just a tad darker then mine. He was probably even the same height as me. Or around there atleast. As I was about to continue my search I got the feeling I too was being watched. I looked up to meet his gold eyes looking back at me. More intense then my own gaze upon him.
I blinked in surprise and looked away. Rubbing my side as if pain was what distracted me from his eyes. He moved over closer to my bed as I did so.
"Are you okay? Does it still hurt?"
I looked at him and smiled slightly.
"It's all right. Its just sore, is all."
He watched me quietly as if trying to make out if my words were true or not. Which in fact they were, I was sore. Very much so. He watched me quietly once more and we sat in silence for a few moments before a knock came at my door.
"Alex, are you up?" It was my mom.
"Yeah Mom, we're up."
The door opened and my Mom stood in the doorway.
"How are you feeling?"
"Other than being sore, I'm fine."
She tapped her cheek and smiled. Not a big smile. It was more like a smile of relief.
"I'll get you some medicine for those burises. And I want you to take the day off. Gage, Stephanie and I can handle everything."
"But, I can still mo-"
"Sit." I had been in the process of standing up from my bed when she told me to sit back down.
"Rest today, sweety. We'll be fine."
"Then, tell Stephanie just to refill Cody's food and get new water."
"All right. I'll be right back with that medicine, then you need to rest.. I'll bring some breakfast up for you too."
"Ah, cereal is fine. I'm not that hungry."
"Okay, sweety. I'll be right back."
She left, closing the door behind her. Silence once more fell into the room. I sighed.
"You know, I can leave back to my-"
"No," I interuppted. "sorry. I, don't want to be left alone. What happened yesterday is now strating to come to mind."
~~Cody's POV~~
The door had closed as Alex's mom left the room. Looking back at him I noticed his hands start to tremble. I looked up at his face when he asked me not to leave and I nodded. There wasn't much I could do for him except watch in silence as he faught for control of his emotions. He had clasped his hands together tightly and I could hear him sniffling as if trying to fight back tears. Then I smelled it. The salty scent of his tears. I wanted to be able to take care of him, to stop him from crying. But he didnt find it right for him to do so. So instead he quietly sat there, listening.
