My Golden Eyed Lover

Chapter 9

I stayed by Alex's side until his Mom came into check in on him. Having figured that was the last time she would check on him until tomorrow morning I left his room. I was hesitant at first, but it wasn't my place just yet to stay by his side like I wanted to. Opening the window and closing it quietly behind me I headed for my exhibit for the rest of the night. Not having eaten much through out the day I was glad to find some dear meet waiting for me. After eating I roamed around my exhibit in my cougar form, making sure nothing was out of the ordinary. Nothing was. Contempt with my exhibit I returned to our spot by the tree and laid there until I fell asleep.

The following morning I woke up to the sounds of the humans and cats calling out to eachother. I blinked before stretching and yawning like us big cats do and then stood there looking around. I didn't catch the sight of my human anywhere, but a good sniff into the air and I caught his scent. How I would never grow old of this scent. I waited by the tree for him to come to me. How I wish I could just walk up to him and grab him for myself. But I wasn't going to take it that far just yet. I would wait as long as I have to to claim him if I had to. Looking down I noticed a pile of clothes laying in the grass below me. My ears pricked up as I noticed Alex's sent on them. These were the clothes I had borrowed from him. (A/N: I noticed in the last chapters I never mentioned him finding clotes to wear. So I'm putting it here xD ) I pushed them into the bushes just behind the tree. For now these would be the clothes I use when I sneak out of here. Just as I had finished I heard my name being called out. I looked over and caught my beloved human coming over to me with some breakfast. He placed it on down a few feet away from the tree and walked over to me before I could move from my spot.

"Hey, why didn't you stay last night? My Mom totally cooked breakfast for you only to find you weren't there. Had to tell her you had an emergency to tend to at your 'Grandparents' farm."

He smirked at me and my own lips slightly twitched into a smirk as well. Now was the first time I would speak to a human in my cougar form. And just to clear up some things. I speak telepathically. 

"I figured it would be bad if I had been missing any longer then I have been. I had two legs of meat last night when I returned."

"Did you just seriously...speak back to me?"

I simply nodded at him.

"God that was cool. You seriously have to tell me what else you can do."

"Besides shapeshifting and telepathy, nothing else."

"Really? Well, telepathy makes up for all the things you don't have." He chuckled. I began to love that chuckle just as much as my human himself. 

"Are you allowed to start working now?"

"Yeah, Mom said to take it easy and ask Gage and Stephanie to help me with things if they seem to be putting stress on my body. I think I'll be fine though. Yesterday the three of them did a lot to catch up on what we fell behind on. So really all I have is some paperwork to fill out and then I can come hang out with you again."

"Like I said you don't have to stay with me all the time."

"I know I don't, but I want to."

"I can tell your not going to recall your answer."

A laugh. "I won't. Listen, enjoy your breakfast. By the time I'm done my paperwork I think it might be lunch time."

"Don't rush and put extra stress on yourself."

"I'll be fine. Catch you later."

I nodded as I watched him run out of my exhibit. Even when I couldn't see him, like before a sniff of the air as the breeze blew my way sent his scent towrds me. I walked over to the meat he brought me and began eating it. After doing so I sprawled out on my bathing rock waiting for when my human would be returning to me.
