A/N : Hey everyone, sorry for the loooong wait. I've been so incredibly busy I wasn't able to even take a few days to relax. But any way here's the next chapter. Hope you like it.

The following morning I woke up to find my bandages unraveled and tangled around my arm. I figured as long as I kept the gauze on my stitches I didn't need to wrap the bandage around my head. I sat up in bed and stretched as I looked out my window. No wonder it seemed so dark outside, it was raining. I got up to go to the bathroom and slip on some sweat pants and a shirt. I heard a door slam from downstairs and listened. I heard a car drive away and fade out in the distance. Deciding to check on the situation I headed out of my room and for the kitchen. I could hear someone downstairs rummaging around.

"Hey, Mom?"

"In the kitchen." I heard her call out.

I took a deep breath, she sounded fine. I guess nothing happened, like I thought. I turned the corner and peeked into the kitchen. My mom was cooking breakfast and looked pretty happy as well.

"Morning dear. Breakfast will be ready in a few."

"Uh, mornin'."

I was kind of confused, what on earth happened just before I woke up?

"Hey, Mom? Wh-" I was cut off as my Mom lifted my chin after setting down a glass of orange juice and asked me how my head was.

"Its fine, it doesn't sting as much as it did."

"Hmm, I'm sure if you touch it you'll be keeling over in pain."

"Yeah, probably."

I took a gulp of my juice and set it down. I watched Mom as she placed food on our plates and handed me one. It looked like she wasn't going to say anything about what happened. So I let it go.

After breakfast and after I changed I took a book off from the shelf and stepped out on to the porch. It was the middle of summer, but with the rain, the air was nice and cool. I could hear some of the cats and faint voices from the workers. I started to wonder what Cody was up to. He was probably going to be angry with me once I saw him again. I let out a small laugh just as my Mom came out to sit with me.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Oh, nothing really."

I was pulled in to a gentle hug and felt a small kiss on the top of my head. Something definitely happened before I woke up. She began to stroke my head. Something she used to always do when I was a kid. I missed how gentle her hands were. This was how she used to help me fall asleep at night.

"Mom?"

"I kicked him out." She said silently.

"What?"  I said as I pushed away from her and looked at her.

"We had a fight this morning. Your Father and I. He was already starting to drink, so I threw him out of my house."

"No way. Mom you actually did that?"

"I've had enough of staying in the corner letting him do these things. Plus all our hard earned money was being wasted on alcohol."

"Wow, I didn't think you would take such a big step."

"I almost didn't...I almost didn't kick him out."

"What do you mean? You were going to continue to put up with it?"

She nodded and closed her eyes. She was silent for a moment. Then she looked at me and smiled.

"No one threatens my baby. Whether its his own Father or a stranger. No one says things about him and thinks they get off scotch free."
