~~Alex's POV~~

The cops were just pulling away from the house when a crowd now formed far down the driveway, where it met with the zoo path ways. Another thing we were going to have to deal with. But first things first! Why the hell is Cody standing before me as a human!? I turned to him to start speaking when my mom pulled me away.

"Is that a friend of yours?" She glanced over at the dark haired man standing beside me.

I was going to say yes but she didn't wait for my answer.

"Never mind. I'll take care of the crowd of people. Go get yourself cleaned up."

"Are you sure? I can deal with them." I didn't want her to deal with the crowd alone. She shook her head like a mother would. "You look like hell Alex. Not very business like. Go on and clean up."

"All right."

I turned and looked back at her one last time before grabbing Cody's wrist and dragging him into the house with me. I didn't say anything until we were in my room and the door was closed behind us.

"Your Cody right!?" I quickly started questioning him.

He nodded.

"Your seriously...him."

"Its seriously me."

I drop myself down on my bed. Legs hanging off the side and face in the sheets.

"Sorry for hiding it."

I looked up and twisted my head in a way I could see him. Then sighed and sat on my bed. Was it normal to not feel so freaked out about this whole thing? "So~ What are you, exactly?"

He seemed to have brightened a bit. Perhaps happy that I wasn't totally freaking at him.

"I'm a shape-shifter. We can shift into whatever form we choose. Whether it be animal or human. Though the shifting isn't the best. Hurts like hell when the skin sheds." He shivered at the thought as if it disgusted him.

"It hurts? Shedding....skin?"

He nodded and I looked up at the ceiling. Cody remained silent. "A shape-shifter.....huh?"

"So what made you pick a cougar to shift into? And what made you end up here of all places?"

"As far as I can remember my parents have always been cougars. They liked the feel of prowling around as a wild cat, I guess. We lived in the mountains in a small hunting cabin that was no longer being used. One day, when I was ten, my shifting abilities just came to me and I shifted into one. Stayed that way since. As far as ending up here goes...."

He trailed off and I watched as he seemed to choose carefully on what he wanted to say. He opened his mouth to say something and then closed it again.

"If you don't want to tell me you don't have too."

"No, it's not..." He sighed and looked straight at me. "I have temper issues. And one day when I was out hunting I found some humans who were teasing a small animal. I got mad and shifted."

I stayed quiet the whole time he spoke.

"I freaked out a then, realizing that was the first time I'd come in contact with another human, besides my parents. So I ran off and was caught by a hunter while trying to run from the other two. Its a stupid reason really."
