Stephanie and I made it to the hospital without any problems on the road. Which was really good because my head was hurting so much and blood was starting to drip through the cloth Stephanie gave me. When we got to the hospital, we were sent to emergency care right away. Unfortunately I had to get stitches on my left temple. After shaving that one part of my head and getting stitched up, the doctor put some gauze on the stitches and then wrapped my head with a bandage. It was so uncomfortable, and I worried about what Cody was going to think seeing me like this. I laughed to myself. I must have been hit harder than I thought. Worrying about a cougar's thoughts.
Stephanie punched me in the arm the minute the doctor left the room.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Why the hell do you have to take care of that man when he's drunk?"
"I was at lunch with Cody when he just walked in. We all know how Cody is with other people. I had to get him out of there. Of course, it ended bad for me," I said looking up as if I could see my head. She shook her head and we left the hospital room.
I walked behind her. I felt a bit dizzy but I didn't want to look like some kind of weakling having to cling to a girl. Although this girl would be happy to lend a helping hand for me. I smiled as I looked up at her, of course all I could see was her back. She was beautiful, even though she wasn't your typical young woman. Her hair fell down to her mid back. It was two toned. The top of her hair being purple and underneath being black. I had to admit, it looked amazing on her. I'd probably dislike that hair style on any other girl. Stephanie was special. She had the perfect figure. Great hips, nice long legs, and her ass...I tore my face away from her ass. The last time I looked at it she knocked me out cold. Stephanie looked like the normal girl from behind, but her appearance was different in the front. She had a stud pierced nose. When not working she wore an intense amount of eyeliner and eye shadow--all black. She had a pierced belly button as well. Stephanie was definitely not my type of girl, but I couldn't help but love her. Her personality was far from how she looked, and that's what helped us become friend's.
She waved her hand in my face. "Hello? Any body home?"
"Sorry, what? I must have zoned out."
"Are you okay?"
"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. I just want to go back to the zoo."
"No way. You can't go back to the zoo, your going home and resting like the doctor said to do."
"But--"
"No 'but's. I don't need something happening to you. Cody would kill us all if he somehow felt like something was wrong."
"So your only concern is what Cody will do to you if I'm not there?"
"Of course! I can't let anything happen to this pretty face. How am I ever going to get a guy to date me if I have a scar across my face?"
I laughed at the image and was quickly punched.
"Not funny! Your Cody's keeper, no one else can handle him like you can." She stopped for a moment to think. "How on Earth did you get Cody to be so gentle to you?"
"How do I know. It's just...I don't know."
"It's so strange."
It was strange. We all loved the cats, some of us more than the others. But we all cared for them the same way. We were all gentle to them. Yet Cody was only gentle with me and for some reason the Lions hated me. Literally, the sight of me walking past their exhibit puts them in an uproar.
But like I was saying. It was strange. Everyone noticed Cody's behavior towards me. They thought it was 'cute'. So there were times when our customers were able to witness our relationship because I would be locked in with Cody all day. I had no complaints though. I loved being with Cody. It was a whole lot better than being alone.
