I woke up the following morning really sore. Why? Because I stayed an entire afternoon and night trying not to move for the human who used me as a pillow. I had finally managed to move and stretch after he had moved and fell off of me. I took a step outside to sniff the air and take care of some business. The sky had cleared up again and everything smelled of rain. A roar came from my left and I sighed. Those stupid lions are at it again. Always trying to pick a fight with the tigers in the exhibit next to theirs.
They never give up. Even when those humans try to quiet them. I frowned quickly after thinking about what happened the morning before with the human in my holding room. I heard rustling from inside my holding room when a voice called from outside my exhibit.
"Hey Cody, looks like your doing good." Its that male human who is always with that female human and my human. My human... I swished my tail towards him in response to his question. Then I heard a yawn and a quiet "mornin" from behind me. My human had woken up. His hair was a complete mess, with an addition of my bedding added to it. He yawned and a small tear appeared from the corner of his eye. My heart skipped a beat. My heart....skipped a beat? He rubbed the back of his neck just before smiling down to me and scratching behind my ear.
"Good morning, Cody. I'm glad your feeling better." He left my side to talk with the human on the other side of the fence. I watched and waited for him to come back. I didn't want him to leave my side anymore. I went to grab a drink from the pond down the hill, upset about being left behind. After getting a good few gulps in I turned to watch as the male human stuck his hand through the fence and touched my human, removing my bedding from his hair. There was a pain as if I had been shot like before. But it was happening to my heart. I didn't understand what it meant but I just felt I needed to separate them. I ran towards my human and bit his pants, pulling him away from the other human.
He followed me as far as I pulled him without an objection. He laughed silently and it only made me pull him further away. I pulled him to a tree surrounded my thick bushes, and against the tiger exhibit. I released his pants and sat down, hoping he wasn't upset with me. I was gently patted on top of my head as my human sat down next to me.
"Cody, were you jealous that I was talking to Gage instead of you?"
I looked away and twitched my ear at him. A sign he took as being just a bit annoyed.
"I'm sorry. After yesterday I figured you'd want time to yourself a bit. I was going to go back home and change. Plus see my Mom." He laughed to himself. "I talk to you as if you know what I'm saying. I'm sure more than half the time you don't." He smiled up at the sky through the spaces between the tree branches. I decided to forget about my annoyance and sat closer to him. Swishing my tail on his lap, I stretched and nosed my bedding out of his hair. He laughed and it made me relaxed.
"Gage said It looked like I was submerged in your bedding. I was covered in it."
No one can touch you. Only I can. Your my human, mine. I stopped what I was doing and looked straight out in front of me. That was....a strange thought. But, I....really don't want anyone touching you. In my thoughts I didn't notice he had leaned against me.
"I must have made you uncomfortable last night. Using you has a pillow, you weren't able to move around."
My heart skipped a beat again and I couldn't stop myself. I nudged his head gently--remembering his wound he received from that insane male human--and then licked his cheek. My tail happily swished behind me and showed no sign of stopping. I began to purr as I licked him once more on the same cheek. He laughed and playfully pushed me away like he always did. He looked up at me, our eyes meeting each other's. I stared at his brown eyes, they were dark and at the same time held so much emotion in them. He quickly looked away and smiled.
