Derek POV

I got a call from the Sheriff that Stiles is coming home....okay he didn't actually tell me I over heard him talking to Stiles on the phone but no one needs to know that, ever since Stiles left, the pack seems empty like he was the glue that kept us all together and I hope he stays because the pack need him and so do I more than I thought I would, when the whole pack heard the news they demanded to go over to his fathers house and wait for him to show up and since I'm the Alpha I had to go with them so they didn't get in any trouble, well thats what I was telling myself anyway, even though it wasn't the truth, we all decided to head over there around lunch time since Scott had found out that he took the afternoon off to spend it with his son, when we got there I don't think the sheriff was even surprised by us turning up "I was waiting for you lot to turn up" he said sighing but still moved aside to let us in, we all moved into the house quickly before he could change his mind

"You dont mind that were here, do you sheriff" Scott asked quietly, while the rest of the pack looked unsure "not really, actually I'm glad you are because I'm hoping you can help me persuade my son to stay here permanently" he replied hopefully before walking into the kitchen, I know the sheriff misses his son terribly but he won't tell Stiles that because he thinks Stiles is happy but when I overheard they're conversation over the phone he lied when he was said he was fine, if that was the case why won't he just say that and come home, I know the pack misses him even Jackson has mentioned it a few times, I leaned against the wall and listened to the others talking about ways to get Stiles to stay when Peter walked over to me "you do realise that you can probably get him to stay right" he said after a few minutes silence I tensed up "shut up" I growled flashing my eyes at him, we were not having this conversation here with the pack and his father in the same house

"Nephew, you have to tell him" he replied walking away again, leaving me to my thoughts I know what he's talking about, a few months before Stiles left I found out he was my mate but I didn't tell him, mainly because he deserves someone better than me but after he left I couldn't get him out of my head, it was like he had already got under my skin with his hazel doe eyes and his unque scent of fresh basil, lemon and nature which is unusual since only forest animals have that scent but obviously Stiles had to be different, no-matter where I go around town I'm reminded of him and sometimes seeing the Sheriff didn't help either, since Stiles took after his father a lot so I mostly stayed away from him, eventually I gave up pretending and acknowledged the fact that Stiles and I were mates the only issue I had was to actually tell him but he's been gone and I've not had the opportunity to do so, yes I could have called him since I've got his number but I think something like this is meant to be said face-to-face were I can see his reaction, though I'm hoping that I'm not too late after waiting this long

I tensed up again when I heard a car pull in the drive way, I know the others had heard it too because they stopped talking, I noticed Isaac was shaking his legs that was another thing that had changed, when he left Issac's nightmares came back and only Stiles could ever calm him down, sometimes when he thinks no one is listening he would mumble how the loft didn't smell of home anymore and I asked Peter about that and he explained that even though Stiles was human he protected us all in some way and whenever he was around, the mixed up pack of teenagers were like a family and with Isaac's past it makes him more against change and Stiles leaving was a big change even if it wasn't for good, it still hurt him more than I would of thought, non of the pack called him because the sheriff asked us not too, to allow him to relax and heal on his own without the pack trying to get him back before he was truly ready
