One ziam king x pirate au coming right up!

===========================

To say Liam was bored would be an understatement.

The meeting of the Assembly of the Nobles had been going on for the last three hours. And still, nothing fruitful had come out of it. The only exciting thing that had happened was old Lord Paul pushing over his goblet of red wine and spilling its contents onto the beautiful emerald green dress of Lady Hadid, resulting in a lot of screaming and throwing very creative obscenities at each other's head.

But even that wasn't worth the torture Liam was enduring at the moment. Honestly, he preferred listening to yet another story about his friend, Lady Edward's, many nightly activities, rather than sitting at this godforsaken table for a minute longer.

"Your Majesty?"

Liam's head snapped up from where it had been leaning on his hand. His eyes had been drifting dangerously closed. It would have only taken seconds before he had entered the realm of dreams and had escaped this whole gathering. But alas...

Next to him, Karen gave him a disapproving look.

"My apologies, Lord Patrick," Liam said, forcing one of his many polite smiles that didn't quite reach his eyes. "What were you saying, again?"

Lord Patrick's face stayed unreadable. Liam absolutely hated it. He was good friends with Lord Patrick's son and Liam had always been able to read exactly what his friend was thinking right from the expression on his face. But with the senior Patrick it was something very different.

"We were wondering what your thoughts were on the matter of the increasing attacks in and around the villages lately, Your Majesty," Lord Patrick repeated patiently, his small eyes staring right at him, scrutinising him.

Liam thought for a moment. Attacks on the villages? Had he missed something important? For as far as he was aware, attacks were quite common in villages, seeing as the woods were filled with raiders and thieves. So, why did the nobles want his opinion on this now?

"Which attacks are you talking about, specifically?"

"The increasing pirate attacks, Liam," Karen said, one of her elegant, pale eyebrows raised. "Do pay attention to what's being said."

To his embarrassment, Liam could feel the heat climbing up his neck to his cheeks as quiet snickers filled the room. He should have known his mother would call him out to the rest of the table. She always thought it helped Liam in being more attentive. But, if he were very honest, he would say it had quite the contrary effect. In fact, it made him resent these assemblies even more.

"Ah," Liam said, his chin held high as he looked around the table, "the attacks." He nodded once, keeping his posture as straight and perfect as possible. Just as his father had taught him. "Why don't we just hunt them down? Arrest them and have them executed like all the other criminals?"

Whispers spread across the room, some nobles looking on in full disbelief and others gesturing wildly to the person next to them. Ah. His reaction had struck a chord. Maybe something more interesting would finally happen. Liam sat up straighter in his chair, waiting for the first of the nobles to react.

"Hunting the pirates?" Lord Edward said as he stood up from his chair, leaning heavily on the mahogany table. "Your Majesty, have you got any idea how hard it is to hunt pirates?"

"I don't think it's that bad of an idea," Lord Lowen said. As always, he had that dreamy, distant look in his pale eyes, his loose blond hair falling in curling strands around his round face. Sometimes, Liam still couldn't believe they were distant relatives of the Royal family. "It could help in keeping the sea creatures safe. I've heard pirates love to capture them and sell them on the black markets. Or even worse... They eat them! Oh my, I would be devastated!"
