The first thing that Quinn noticed was that Sandi Griffin looked especially irritated that day.
"Hi, Sandi! Hello Stacy!" Quinn greeted, having joined her friends already- "What a beautiful morning we have today, right?"
"Gee, Quinn! You got the perfect touch of makeup for a day like this..."
"Thanks, Sandi!" Quinn replied, not really thankful since she knew that Sandi would always say that kind of things to her- "Stacy! Is that one of the new Starlight line handbags?!"
"Yeah, is it cool or what?" Stacy said, now showing off her new and stylish, clearly expensive silvery handbag to her best friend- "Mom got it for me yesterday! She said that my A+ in History last week, was worth a nice reward!"
"I am so happy for you! I wish my parents would get me something Starlight for my birthday..."
The three young ladies then started their way to the Thanks Everyone event together, since it was necessary for the Fashion Club to display unity and pride, especially at important occasions that would perhaps become part of the long and distinguished history of Lawndale High.
"Where's Tiffany?"
"She's sick at home, something about the Flu?" Sandi explained.
"Oh, that's too bad! She's going to miss the adventure!"
"Dad said he would make sure that we all land in the same team!" Stacy added, so happy to know that she looked sweet and delightful with her unbelievable new handbag- "I just hope that Woodslack place is not going to be too cold..."
"Gee Stacy, I am still not sure that camping is an appropriate activity for the Fashion Club!"
"Sandi! Did you know that our guide is John Astrella?!"
"Oh, really Quinn? Actually, I read something about him in Waif!" Stacy exclaimed with great surprise, since that name was pretty difficult to forget- "Expert mountain guide at just 23, forest ranger and legendary rock climber! Quite good looking, too! I think he's Italian?"
"His dad is Italian!"
"Well, that's interesting..." Sandi accepted- "Just, not too much rock climbing, okay?"
Meanwhile, Daria and Jane had found themselves a nice and lonely place somewhere in the grassy grounds of Lawndale High, where they would be free to have a good and somber chat very far away from everyone else...
"What an inconvenience, getting forced to attend that stupid Woodslack trip" Jane complained, now sitting on a small grassy hill at the right side of her best friend- "I wanted to finish my new painting this weekend, Daria! I'll call it... The Night it Rained Red!"
"Cool name! What is it about?"
"Oh you'll see, it symbolizes the ruin of the world..."
"Yeah, right" Daria sighed, now looking up at the sky- "You know what's the worst part about camping? Having to act like you are enjoying the damn thing!"
"True! I wish something would happen, Daria... We need something that will ruin the entire experience for everyone!"
"Did you hear we have to try rock climbing? Do they think we are actual athletes or what?"
"You know, Lawndale High gets even stupider in a yearly basis!"
"To be fair, I read that rock climbing at Woodslack Forest is pretty much just beginner level" Daria continued, now hoping that she would get sick or something in order to escape from this most unfortunate situation- "Still, there have been some serious accidents..."
"Oh, now you are thinking about accidents? You are such an optimist, Miss Fatality!"
"Whatever! Let's go to that thing, before all the pizza is gone..."
"Let's hope we find Trent along the way!"
Daria tried hard not to think about her distant and awful days at Camp Grizzly as they walked side by side without another word, and yet she knew, already worried for real, that this time the camping experience was likely to be even worse than anything Skip Stevens could have thrown at her back then.
Then, what... What if something actually happened to them at Woodslack Forest?
