I was sitting getting my booties on as there was a knock on my door Friday night. I smiled knowing it was Caleb.
"Coming!" I yelled and rushed to the door. Once I opened it I smiled seeing him in a t-shirt, jeans, and a black leather jacket. I grabbed my own jacket and purse.
"You look amazing." Caleb said as we walked to the car, he opened the door for me and I got in.
"Thank you." I said as he got in his side of the car. "You said go casual." I said and he nodded.
"I did, happy you listened." He said and I smiled. As we drove, I felt my cellphone vibrate in my clutch and I pulled it out.
HENRY:Can't sleep, you awake?
No, not now Henry...
DEZI: Getting ready to go to bed, pretty exhausted.
HENRY:It's 7pm! Well where you are at least.
DEZI: I know, I think I'm getting sick. Can I facetime you tomorrow?
HENRY:Yeah of course, feel better sweetie.
I put my phone away.
"Everything okay?" Caleb asked and I nodded.
"Yeah just my friend that moved to London recently. She was just checking on me since she couldn't sleep." I lied and he smiled.
"Your best friend moved to London, that's exciting!" Caleb said and I shrugged and then nodded.
"Yeah she got married to a guy from there so move with the husband." I said and he nodded. Caleb and I rode in a comfortable silence and he pulled up at the small bar and grill.
"Are you sure this is okay? I mean we can always go somewhere else." Caleb said and I shook my head.
"This is amazing. Local pubs are my favorite place to go." I said and Caleb looked at me oddly as he got out of the car, rushed around to my door and opened mine for me.
"Pub, are you English now?" Caleb asked, we both let out a small laugh and I shook my head.
"No, just habit I guess from when I was over there." I said and he smiled. He took my hand as we walked inside. I smiled seeing the live band playing. "Also, live music tonight." I said and Caleb smiled as we walked in and got a table close to the dance floor and the band.
Caleb and I ordered some burgers, fries and some beer. As I was sitting listening to the band I felt my phone go off in my purse again and I groaned.
"Sorry." I said and he shook his head. I checked it really fast.
EVE:Daniel just talked to Henry and Henry is worried because you are going to bed so early. You okay?
I just groaned to myself and quickly answered.
DEZI: Yeah I think its just a head cold thing. I took some stuff and I'm in bed. Can we talk tomorrow?
EVE:Yeah, sure. Love you.
I didn't even answer back and went back to Caleb.
"Sorry, I have no idea why I'm so popular tonight." I said and we both laughed.
"No problem. I was the same way. I thought I was going to be late picking you up because my brother kept calling me asking questions about tonight." Caleb said and we both laughed.
"Do you only have the one brother?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I'm the middle of 3. The youngest one was calling me asking about the date. I think he was getting info for my mom." Caleb said and I laughed.
"The oldest brother has the son?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah. Mason is my oldest brother, 2 years older than me. He is the one who is married with a kid, my nephew Justin. Then there is me, no kids, no wife -..."
"Thank god." I said and we both laughed.
"Then my younger brother Tanner. Not married, works as a pilot and is finally home for a few days." Caleb explained.
"How did your mom do it? All of you boys?" I asked and he laughed.
"A lot of threats of murdering us." Caleb said and we laughed. Our food was delivered and we ate and listened to the band while continuing to talk.
"So what about you?" Caleb asked.
"What about me what?" I asked.
"Any siblings?"
"Nope, just me. Mom and Dad still together and its been just the 3 of us." I said and Caleb smiled.
"Wow, only child. What's that like?" Caleb asked. I laughed.
"Lonely. Also getting in trouble a lot because blaming the broken lamp on your imaginary friend also gets you grounded." I said and Caleb laughed.
"Did you do that?!"
"Hell yeah I did! I thought it was working too. I was making a very solid case but nope." I said and we laughed as I slightly shook my head.
"Well I think the imaginary friend did it." Caleb said.
"Oh no it was clearly me. I hated the lamp and they put it in my room so I knocked that bitch to the floor." I said and we both burst out laughing.
This date was so simple, so easy, going smoothly...almost as smoothly as the night I met Henry...NO! Don't do that Destiny. You are out with an amazing guy, don't you dare think about Henry. I noticed the band started playing a country version of a song and I slightly groaned.
"Issue with Unchained Melody?" Caleb asked and I sighed.
"My job, it's the song from Ghost when they are using the pottery wheel." I said and Caleb shook his head standing up.
"You need a good memory with this song. Come on." He said extending his hand to me, I took it and he walked me out to the dance floor. He placed a hand on the small of my back and held my other as I placed my free hand around his neck. He pulled me flush against him and I smiled.
We dancing for a minute and then Caleb smiled and released me spinning me out and back to him. I laughed as we took hold again.
"So you can dance..."
"That was my one move." Caleb said and I laughed. Caleb was just looking at me and I just looked at him. I couldn't seem to pull my eyes away from his.
"Destiny..." He said and I knew what he was wanting, so I nodded.
He slowly leaned in, almost apprehensively, nervous. Once his lips brushed mine, I felt my breath hitch. He gave a small smile as his lips fully connected to mine. He released the hand he was holding and placed his other hand behind me linking it with his hand that was already there. I placed my other hand around his neck, holding him to me. His tongue skimmed my lips and I opened for him giving him entrance. Once we broke apart to catch our breath, I fluttered my eyes open and smiled at him. Caleb leaned his forehead down to mine and rested it there and that was how we held each other the rest of the song and through the next slow song as well.
