I can't see. Darkness covers my eyes. I am awake, I just can't see anything. I can't move. It's like I'm awake, but my body isn't. I hear footsteps. Very close and near me. Maybe even next to me. People. Other people. Next, everything starts coming back to me at once. The girls, the maze, the monsters, my escape. If I did escape the maze, then where am I now? I slowly start to gain my conscience as I feel two pairs of hands carrying me somewhere. Finally, I gain control of my body and snap open my eyes. I look to see who's carrying me and notice they have some sort of uniforms on with masks. They're carrying me down an unfamiliar hallway. At the end of the hallway I see two big doors. "Where are you taking me? What the hell is this place?! Who are you guys?!" my voice rises with every question I yell at them. They don't speak at all. All they do is start speed walking faster down the hall. "Hey!" I yell. Once again, there's no response.

As we walk through the doors, I see what looks like doctors in lab coats all staring at me as I'm carried in. The people in masks set me down on a chair. Before I have the chance to pick my arms, they're tied to the chair. "Hey! What the hell's going on here?" I yell. Once again, no one answers me. The people in masks, who I'm guessing are guards, step away. "Hello there, Aurora" a lady in a white coat walks up to me. She looked oddly familiar to me. "Who are you? Where am I?" I ask, gathering all the confidence I could muster. "I'm Ava. Ava Paige" she answers, an evil smile on her face. Familiarity was screaming at me at this point, but I still couldn't remember. "This is Thomas" she introduces as a boy, who looks around my age, walks through the crowd of doctors and stands next to Ava. As I see his brown eyes and brunette hair, familiarity starts to scream at me, yet once again, I can't remember. "As you know, you have just escaped the maze. Unfortunately for you, we're sending you into another one" Ava smiles at me. This sentence makes my fists clench and my heart drop. "If you're the ones who sent me into the first maze, why are you telling me about sending me into another?" I stare straight into her eyes. "Well, my good friend Thomas here is going to make sure that you don't remember this. Or any of your time in the previous maze" Ava motions to Thomas before walking out of the room, the other doctors and guards following her. "Um, hi. I'm Thomas" the boy says, his voice sounding raspy because of the quiet room. All I do is give him a dirty look. He's the reason I was in the maze. He helped put me in there. He's the reason Maddie, Debbie, Jules, and all those other girls are trapped in there. Now I shall never forget their faces, voices, or names.

"Look, I know I'm probably not your favorite person at the moment, but believe it or not, we used to be best friends," he pulls up a chair in front of mine and sits down in it, "we grew up together, we used to play tag and hide-and-seek together, we used to take training and classes together," he looks up at me with sorrowful eyes. One part of me is saying to believe him, the other is saying that he's hot.

"Training for what?" is all I could say. "It's all an experiment. Ever since we were kids. They would give us all these different types of tests. Apparently, our generation is different, more advanced, smarter. The maze is even one of the tests. We were watching and tracking your brain vitals and your actions," he takes a deep breath. "Why?" I ask. "There's a disease. It's spreading fast. This facility thinks that our generation could be the answer. The cure," he answers. "Is the disease so bad that it's worth risking an entire generation for?!" I yell. "To them, yes," he nods his head. "I don't understand. If you grew up training with us, if you're a part of our generation, then why work with them?" I motion my head to the closed door. "When they told you and I that they were sending our other friends in the maze, we tried everything to stop them, but they didn't. Then, when I lost you, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't take watching my friends get hurt, so I reached out to these people. It's kind of like an army. They want to do anything they can to help. I just need a little more time," Thomas gives me a reassuring look. "Now, I'm gonna need you to fake passing out. Can you do that?" he lowers his voice to a whisper. I nod my head in response. "All right, just do it when I fake putting the needle in your wrist," he goes to reach for the needle, but is cut off by the sound of the door opening.

We're met with a girl who has blue eyes and brunette hair. "Aurora, this is Teresa," Thomas introduces. "Hi, Aurora. Look, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry, for everything," she smiles at me. "It's okay. Really. I'm just glad I got some sort of explanation," I smile back at her. "Good luck, Aurora" she walks out and shuts the door behind her. "You guys used to be amazing friends," Thomas says as he turns his head back to look at me, "all of us were," he sighs. "Did we have a good little group?" I ask him. "Yeah, we did. I know you can't remember them, but I hope one day you at least get to meet them" he picks up the needle.

He places it on top of my wrist and acts like he's injecting it, when really it's all landing on the ground. I make my eyes look droopy before I fully close them. "I'll be watching out for you, Aurora"
