Chapter 2
ALYSSA'S POV:
The plane ride was short and splendid, it was my first time flying on a public plane. My father flew planes himself, so it was always just me on a plane. The old lady sitting next to me was talking my ear off, asking why I was alone going to Canada. I told her to see family and she finally fell asleep.
____As I stepped off the plane the cold air hit my face. My heart beated faster and faster as I hoped no one would recognize me. The airport was crowded and I wasn't sure which way I was going.
"Alyssa," I heard someone yell.
Oh no. Please don't let it be the paps. I turned around slowly and caught a glance at my aunt. I smiled and ran towards her.
"Hello!" My aunt yelled hugging me tight.
She was dressed in jeans and a hockey team jersey. She told me we needed to grab my bags, I didn't know how. She taught me and we were on our way.
"I'm sorry for the rush, but I think we are going to have to go straight to Oliver's game," she told me.
"Oliver's game?" I asked.
"He plays hockey, best on the team," she smiled.
"Is he now?" I asked.
"Sure is, captain three years in a row." She smiled even wider.
"Hockey yeah? Is that like a big sport here?" I asked.
"The biggest and bestest," she told me.
"How's Tess?" I asked.
"She's good, she's at dance right now." My aunt said to me.
"Is Laur still her best friend?" I asked her.
"Yeah, can't believe you remembered that." She said looking at me.
"Well yeah, I mean she was always my favorite." I smiled.
"How old are they now?" I asked.
"Tess is about to be 18, Oliver is 16, and Chase is gonna be 12 next month." She told me.
"I forgot Ollie was the same age as me," I laughed.
__
As we arrived at the rink a half hour later, I was so tired. My aunt rushed in to see Oliver play. I had never been to a hockey game before, but I guess I was going to find out now. We walked into a huge room with seats and an ice rink. The walls were surrounded by glass and the boys were already on the ice.
"Did they start yet?" My aunt asked the women next to her.
"Not yet Laura, just in time." She smiled.
"Thank goodness. Oh Karen this is my niece Alyssa, she's visiting from Denmark for two months." My aunt told her.
"Hi it's nice to meet you, I'm Karen, Shawn's mom. He's number 98." She smiled.
"Hi nice to meet you," I said to her.
A buzzer went off and everyone cheered. I sat there not knowing what the hell was going on.
"What number is Ollie?" I asked.
"19," my aunt told me.
I nodded and let her alone the rest of the game. When the black thing went into the net people would cheer so I think that was good..? Our team was winning because my aunt kept telling me that. I just nodded and smiled, wishing I was at home with Tess and Laur. Another buzzer rung and everyone stood up yelling. The boys had a group hug on the ice, then started leaving it.
"We have to go meet them in the hallway outside," my aunt said as she got up.
I nodded and got up following her. Oliver was waiting when we got there, his mom hugged him and then he saw me.
"Alyssa!" He yelled and ran towards me.
"Ollie," I laughed.
He trampled me and we went backwards.
"Man puberty hit ya," he smiled laughing.
"Ummm thank you?" I asked.
He nodded and smiled. His long brown hair had been cut short, and his face had become muscular since the last time I saw him. Not to mention his body had become more built.
"Enjoying the view?" He laughed.
"Shut up, puberty did well for you too," I laughed.
"Puberty did well? God you and your proper ways." He laughed.
"OLLIE!" Someone yelled and jumped on him.
"Dude get off," he laughed.
As the boy climbed off of Ollie, he looked up at me. I swear my mouth was on the ground looking at this boy. His brown hair and his brown eyes complimented his tan skin.
"Um hi, I'm uh Shawn." He said scratching the back of his neck.
"I-I um. I'm-"
"She's my cousin Alyssa." Oliver said coming in.
"Yeah that's me, Alyssa." I told him.
"Nice accent. London?" He asked.
"Uh no, Denmark." I told him.
"Sweet," he said.
His mom called him away, and Ollie watched me.
"Umm that's my best friend okay? Let's not fall for him." He smiled and laughed.
My face felt hot.
"Who said I fancied him?" I asked.
"Alyssa it's liked here, not fancied and you pretty much were drooling over him." He laughed as we walked to the car.
"Was not," I shot back.
"Alyssa," he said sternly.
"Oliver," I said back.
"You love him," he laughed.
"Not love," I whispered.
"BYE OLLIE! BYE ALYSSA!" Shawn yelled from across the lot.
We both waved back and Ollie called out he'd see him tomorrow.
"What's tomorrow?" I asked.
"We're family friends, we're all going ice skating tomorrow." He smiled.
"I can't skate," I said.
"I'll teach you, or maybe Shawn will," he said smirking.
"Shut up," I told him pushing him into the car.
The whole way home all I could think about is Shawn.I think I might get to like hockey..
