*Thursday*

•Alyssa's POV•

Today I would walk down the aisle without my dad by my side. I stared at myself in the mirror. I didn't even look like myself. This dress was huge, my crown was too small for my head and my mind wasn't where it needed to be. I wiped a tear away from my eye.
"Girls shouldn't cry dad. I'm trying really hard to do what's best here but it's hard dad. I wish you were here because you'd know what to do." I spoke to him.
I let myself cry as I spoke to him.
"YOU PROMISED DAD!" I yelled at the picture.
"You promised you would come home."
I lifted the picture from the wall and cried.
"You promised." I whispered over and over again.
I took a deep breath and pulled myself together. As I went to place the picture back on the wall it fell from my grip and shattered on the floor. I stared at it in amazement.
"No no no no," I whispered as I tried to salvage the picture from all the broken glass.
As I gripped the picture a piece of blue paper fell out from behind it. It slipped out through the glass and across my bedroom floor. I watched it stop. I was frozen in place. I carefully put the picture back down and stood up. I walked over to the piece of paper and picked it up. I carefully opened the seal and looked inside the letter. It was my fathers handwriting.

My darling Alyssa,
If you are reading this I am probably or have been missing for a while now. The mission was a set up and I knew about it. You see when running a country you must take chances. I want you to know that I did this to protect you. Bad men would have come for your mother and you if I didn't leave on this mission. If I am missing know that the bad men are probably gone, and I might be too. I want you to know that I love you more than anything in the world. If I am gone my darling child I promise I will always be with you. Someday you will be the best queen the country has ever seen and you will continue on our legacy with your children and their children. Oh my darling please fall in love with whoever you choose, do not let someone choose for you. I love you with all of my heart Alyssa.
~Your father :)

I fell to my knees and sobbed.
"Father you promised you'd come home." I whispered.

•Shawn's POV•
The lights where on us tonight. Sweden vs. Canada. The music blared as we warmed up. 'She should be here' my mind told me. I glanced up to the stands where my mom and Ollie's mom sat. Steph was sat next to my mom looking down. I knew she thought the same thing.
"MENDES!" Coach yelled.
I looked over to him.
"GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND IN THE GAME!" He yelled.

I nodded this is what I came here to do anyways right? Win?

•Alyssa's POV•

I heard my mother through the open windows greeting all the guests. I glanced down at the courtyard lit with candles. I had to admit it was beautiful, everything was beautiful except the bride and the groom. We both wanted different things but as our duty to our country we would be forced to be married.
"Alyssa it's almost time," Elise said.
I nodded as she left.
"Lets do this."

•Shawn's POV•

"1st quarter and we are down by 3 boys!" coach yelled.
"I don't know where any of your heads are today but they are not in this game. Where are your hearts? We flew all the way out here and for what? To lose in the last game before finals? No." He said.

•Alyssa's POV•

My mother gripped my arm and smiled as she walked me down the aisle. Antonio smiled his best fake smile as I walked towards him.
"Don't mess this up for me," my mother whispered as we arrived to the front.
As I met Antonio he smiled at me.
"It's okay," he whispered.
I nodded as the ceremony began.

•Shawn's POV•

"Do you hear me boys! We need to get the score up by halftime. What kind of motivation do you need for crying out loud? GET OUT THERE!"

•Alyssa's POV•

The words Antonio was saying to me right now where scripted. The whole I'll love you until we die and shit, that was so fake. He didn't love me and even though he was absolutely amazing, I didn't love him either.
"Antonio do you take Princessa Alyssa to be your lofty wedded wife, to have and to hold in sickness and in heath- to death do as part- as long as you both shall live?"
He looked at me.
"I do." He said and gave me a small smile.
"Alyssa do you take Prince Antonio to be your husband, to have and to hold in sickness and in health...."
His words blurred together as my heart raced and my hands sweat. I couldn't do this, I couldn't marry someone I didn't love. I wasn't going to let me mother tell me who I get to marry. I get to.
"Stop." I said.
Everyone looked at me. I couldn't breathe, my hands shook and my body trembled.
"I can't marry you Antonio." I said.
The audience gasped.
"I can't marry you because we both are in love with people who aren't us. I can't marry you because you are not who I choose to spend the rest of my life with, and although you are absolutely wonderful you and Ana belong together. And I know my father would want me to be with someone who I love and that someone is Shawn. I'm so sorry." I said.
He smiled.
"Thank you," he said as I gave him the ring.
"Please marry Ana and be so happy with your life." I told him.
"I will." He said nodding, "Thank you."

I nodded and ran back down the aisle. I had somewhere I needed to be.
