Risking It

As I leave Tengen's house, I try to form a plan. I need to be safe from him, and I don't know how to... I can try to go to Misturi... But the thing is, she lives far from here. It'll take at least 2 days to get there.

I need to hurry if I'm gonna go to Misturi's. I could maybe make it in 1 day if I run. But I need to go to the village to get some things before I go.

But...

Kyojuro might be there...

I remember Tengen telling me he was gonna be there... But if I'm gonna go to Misturi's, I need water and food... So, I can either risk it and go, or I can get dehydrated and starved.

I'm gonna risk it.

1 Hour Later~

Here I am. I've arrived.

I keep telling myself, it's gonna be fine, I'm not gonna run into him. And it makes me shiver with fear even more... Knowing he could be here, and I could run into him.

Now it's just hitting me. I hit my forehead a couple times for being so stupid.

I should've just asked Tengen to give give some supplies... How stupid of me...

Now I'm here, and there's no turning back now...

So I walk into the village.

I hurry up and find a shop that has a kimono with a hood so I can try to hide myself... But no luck.

I quickly walk to a shop that has packaged food and some water.

Knowing that Kyojuro could be here made me look over my shoulder every second. A couple people asked me if I was alright, but I ignored them. Who knows if he hired anyone to help him?

I need to hurry and try to get to Misturi's. So I quickly walk towards the exit to leave.

"Y/N!"

Once I hear my name, I stop walking and stand there, shivering in horror.

I stand there then feel a hand touch my shoulder to swing me around. I gasp.

It's Misturi!

I take a big sigh of relief.

"What are you doin here?!" She asks happily.

"Misturi! Are-Are you alone? Are you with someone?" I shake her shoulders.

"Woah! Y/N, calm down!"

"Misturi! Are you alone?!" I ask again.

"Yes! Well, I was talking to Kyojuro. But, he just left."

I look at her wide eyed.

"Which way did he go?!"

She pointed behind me. I quickly turned around and pulled Misturi in front of me.

"What is going on with you? Did you want me to get him?"

"No!" I yell.

She looks at me in shock and confused.

"Is everything alright? You seem unhedged..."

"Misturi, you have to help me! Kyojuro is insane! He is looking for me right now and if he finds me, he will take me home and beat me!" I shake her again.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"He's insane! You gotta help me!"

"Y/N, I think you need some rest, so I'll call a cab and take you back to my house, okay?"

She called a cab and it took almost a day to get to her house. She insisted I take a nap but I protested for a bit because I was uneasy about Kyojuro. But ended up taking a short nap.

It was better than walking two days...

When we got there, I ended up sleeping longer due to the fact I was tired from the lack of sleep. But hours later I woke up in a panic and locked all the doors and windows. We then sat and talked.

"So, tell me again why you're here..." She asks, still confused.

"Kyojuro, is insane. He beats me when I do something he doesn't want! I'm not allowed to leave or do anything without him or his permission!"

"Is this why you have bandages all over you?" She asked.

I nod. "I was at Tengen's before I was at the village, his wives helped me."

"Do you know why Kyojuro is acting like this?"

I shake my head no. "I have no idea what happened! It started a couple years after we were dating."

"You know we have to go to Master Kagaya about this?"

When she says that, I panic a bit.

"W-We-We can't! If Kyojuro finds me, he'll for sure beat the living shit out of me!"

"J-Just let me stay here tonight, that's all I need."

"Of course you can stay, you can stay however long you need to. But I really need to go to Master about this!" She says concerned.

"No! I-I'll figure something out... Please don't."

She looks at me with a frown.

"I just need one night..."

She nods her head.

"Of course, Y/N."

I hug her and thank her for what she's doing for me. We get ready for bed together, and she's allowing me to sleep in her bed with her, which I'm thankful for.

She even offered to stay up and watch to make sure I'm fine.

But she is acting a bit different... She is usually cheery and happy, like Kyojuro, but this time, she wasn't as happy. She would just tell Master Kagaya whether I like it or not.

I just shake it off, it's probably just me. I'm just on edge. I need to cool down and sleep.

It'll all be fine...
