The New Directions minus one Rachel Berry had gathered in the choir room at the grand piano where Kurt had placed many of McKinley's thunderclaps onto the black piano, "Where's Rachel?"
Finn who looked around stated, "She's not here yet," Harper who stood next to him rolled her eyes, "Great observation, Captain obvious?" Santana and Brittany both chuckled at Harper's insult to the gigantic quarterback, "Perfect. Glee Club stands on a delicate precipice. We have all felt the cold humiliation of a slushee in the face,"
The New Direvtions frowned, "But as of right now, our relative anonymity as a club shields us from severe persecution," Kurt explained to the group, "Swirlies, patronic wedgies."
"What's a patronic wedgie?" Mercedes asked the group as Bella frowned remembering the one time she saw an freshman who she now knew as Artie held up on the school's flagpole in a wedgie, "It's when they hoist you up the flagpole by your undies," Finn clarified, "Strangely, it did make me feel more American,"
Bella pats her freshman's friend shoulder, "Based on my investigation, I am of the opinion that a yearbook photo would only fuel the flames of anti-Glee Club terror," and Bella already had Glee Club terrors because of Scott Daniels and Hudson Montgomery, "I've done a little library research."
He went through the thunderclaps of their school previous years, before taking the 1998 thunderclap and opening it up to McKinley Glee Club's page seeing scribbles and vandalism all over the page.
"Peter Geller," Kurt pointed out the scribbled out face, "Glee Club second tendor, 1998. He can be seen here with both drawn-on Hilter moustache and a rice paddy hat. Shortly after the yearbook came out, Mr Geller had a nervous breakdown,"
Bella furrowed her eyebrows, "He's now the homeless man who sleeps in front of the public library." Quinn liked at Kurt, "Patches?" She asked with Kurt nodding his head, "Patches,"
"He barks at my mom," Brittany added as Bella ran a hand through her hair, "When did you have time to research this, Kurt?" Kurt ignored his sister opening the 2000 thunderclap, "Exhibit B, Tawmy Peterson. Glee Club class of 2000. Seen here in her photo with a cartoon knife stuck in her head in a macabre tableau that in four years would prove eerily prescient," Kurt emphasised, "I think I speak for all of us when I say that not having a pose for a yearbook photo might be a blessing in disguise. I suggest not fighting Figgins' ruling,"
"Oh, hey, guys," Mr Schuester comes up from behind Kurt, Santana and Brittany looking at the laid out thunderclaps, "Ah, looking at old Thunderclaps?"
Artie looked at their Glee Club teacher, "It's really unsettling." Mr Schuester looked at his students, "And totally unfair. Hey, can i borrow one of these?" Kurt held onto the thunderclap when Mr Schuester takes it out of his hands, "You know what? This years Thunderclap is gonna have a Glee Club photo with every one of your smiling faces."
