"QUITE STRANGE." Yelan remarked as she sat across your desk, reading the latest intel she had received from her connections. Her eyes frequently moved towards the herbal tea that you had brewed or your slightly bruised lips that you tried to hide. You did notice how her observant eyes were quietly devouring every single movement of yours.
You also knew what she meant by 'strange' but chose to pretend like you never knew what she meant. Piling up a bunch of paper together and arranging them neatly, you responded.
"The recent reports? Yeah, they are quite strange." You said as you tried avoiding Yelan's obnoxious gaze on you.
She only hummed in a sly tone which completely caught your attention, making your eyes meet hers only to see a tiny smirk that was noticed by you. Oh she definitely caught you.
"No, it is strange that you haven't gotten up from your desk even once today. On a normal working day such as today, I'd see you outside this office right now." She said as she flipped through the next page and began reading through the contents.
Your mind went blank. Yelan was playing a game with you using her words and you knew this very well as you've seen this multiple times when she questioned suspects and criminals.
"Ah I fell from a staircase..My legs got slightly bruised.." you bluntly lied to her. Yes your legs hurt thanks to yesterday's events but you had no choice but to come for work today.
"Where was your prince charming, Kaveh? Was he really not there to catch you?" Yelan asked which immediately made your cheeks burn in embarrassment.
"Yelan..stop teasing..." You turned away, accidentally revealing your hidden marks on the neck. That was now enough for Yelan to prove what she had inside her head.
Her blood was about to boil and she had a murderous thought forming in her head on how to strangle Kaveh to death but then, she would eventually have to come in acceptance with how things are. After all you weren't always going to be her precious little sister who'd never leave her side.
...and Kaveh wasn't even a red flag unlike Aaron. So Yelan brushed away those murderous thoughts. She trusted the architect to keep you happy way before the two of you were being serious about the relationship.
Sighing heavily, she tried forcing a smile onto her face. "Well then, I could tell you and Kaveh are getting along well."
"We are....oh I had to talk to you regarding something. Maybe, the sixth case would be our assumed suspicion as Aaron has another case to himself at Sumeru." You told as you pulled the bottom drawer of your desk, pulling out a bunch of papers that Kaveh gave you yesterday.
Those papers were sent to Kaveh by Alhaitham a few weeks ago. All those papers had information regarding Aaron and the amount of illegal bribing he did which was against the code of conduct at Akademiya.
