Chapter 7 : Finding Karma
Victoria
I walked in town exhausted, from the weight of the duffle bag. I sat on a nearby bench resting there for a minute, a road was in front of me followed by a field of grass across the street.
I squinted my eyes to try and see farther, but it looked like it wasn't nothing for miles.
I planned on hiking to Boston, it wasn't far.
The wind blew my curly hair slightly as I fought back not to put it into a ponytail.
My mind kept on drifting to Torian.
I wondered if he woke up and panicked when he didn't see me there.
What will he do? Will he try to find me?
Maybe... Or maybe not.
Sitting here for awhile, I finally got up grasping the duffle bag and the strap around my chest. I felt like it'll be easier to carry instead of being on my shoulder.
I walked along the sidewalk.
I seen no cars ride past which was odd, usually I'll hear the rough sound of the tires flying across the street.
I walked until my eyes met another drug store, I shook my head noticing it was the same drug store I stopped in to buy my Doritos.
I was making progress, I was leaving him for real this time.
I almost wanted to turn back around, run into his arms and never let him go. I knew I couldn't do that if I didn't want him to be devastated.
I huffed remembering the cure and how it did nothing, I cursed dad for not letting me know. Hell he probably didn't know himself. I wonder, if it didn't work on me would it not work on him?
Probably not.
I shook my head from the thoughts and saw a bus stop ahead.
Should I get on the bus? I knew once I get on this bus there be no running back.
I decided I would get on, but not before buying something to eat. I only had twenty dollars on me, that'll be enough.
I strolled my way to the drug store forgetting that I was "Wanted" for awhile.
It felt good, but I had to put my hood over my head.
I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get caught, just for being carefree.
I went into the store and bought the same Doritos And raspberry tea.
I gave the cashier the twenty and he gave me my change back. I grasped it into my hand and slipped it into my pocket.
I hurried out of the store, stuffing the food in my duffle bag seeing that the bus was at its post already. I ran, surprisingly making my way to the bus just before he pulled off.
Paying my fair I looked around at the three people that sat in the front. It was an elderly man with brown hair and gray eyes, Gray hair was starting to show a little But he looked good for his age. Then, there was a young woman and her daughter. The woman sat there on her phone as he kid sat looking out the window at the commotion outside. They both had black hair and green eyes.
"Here you go miss..." the bus driver said to me, ripping my thoughts away.
He handed me my transfer and I sat at the back of the bus.
I clenched the duffle bag close to me and pulled my hood down further.
The bus started to move and I looked out the window, droplets of rain hit the window indicating it was raining. It was a little hard to see through the window when it got drenched so I looked ahead to the front of the bus.
