Caitlyn POV
As I sat in my upstairs apartment all morning, I waited for Jack to text me and say that I couldn't come with him tonight. Not that I didn't to go, just I felt awful ruining his vacation with his family.
He wasn't texting me, so I texted him first.
Caitlyn: Did you talk to your family about tonight? Remember I don't want to barge in on your family time.
Jack POV
I saw a message from Caitlyn come in on my phone.
I guess she really was worried about tonight, so It texted her back
Jack: Yup. You can come. I have everything under control. I set up some bonding time for my mom and my brother.
I didn't actually set up bonding time for my brother and my mom but I planned too. I looked up some fun things that were going on Los Angeles tonight and planned to send them there. I found that there was a craft fair going on and I know how much my mom would enjoy that so I had to somehow get Sean to take her, without me going.
I went and found my mom and Sean in the hotels cafe.
"Hey guys, what's up?"
"Hey bud. What were you doing up stairs?" my mom said
"Oh. Well-"
"Probably texting that girl" Sean cut me off
"Actually, I was" I said back giving him a mad look. "Hey mom. Guess what?" Before I gave her a chance to talk I told her about the craft fair. "There is a craft fair that I think that you and Sean should go to tonight."
"That's sounds fun. Don't you think Sean." my brother just rolled his eyes "Where are you going to be while we go to this. Don't you want to go with us." my mom questioned
"Um. Well last night-"
"He asked that girl to go to the fair with him again tonight" my brother shouted
"Can you not do that!" I yelled at him. I don't even know how he found out about that. I was probably pretty obvious though.
"Whoa, boys stop!" my mom said. Because at this point my brother had started throwing bits of lettuce at me from his sandwich and I started throwing orange peal at him. I just looked at Sean and pleaded him to go along with my plan.
"Can I talk to Sean for a second" I said as I pulled Sean out of his seat. Once we got around the corner I said "Come on Sean please can you go to this weird craft fair thing with mom!"
"No." said Sean "You know how mom gets when she goes to those things. She gets all crafty and wants to do all these activities and projects." there was a short pause "Yeah. No thanks"
"I know but please. I want to go out with Caitlyn tonight. I promise you will understand if you ever meet someone like her. " He just looked at me.
"Fine. But why do you want to go to the carnival again. You just did that last night."
"I don't know actually. I didn't come up with anything else to do with her. I guess I will have to look. By the way thanks!" He just punched me in the shoulder. "Ow. What was that for."
"That was for all the stuff mom is going to make me do tonight and your welcome."
I went back up to the hotel our hotel room. We got two connecting rooms, one for me and my brother to share and one for my mom and dad (for when my dad is here). I opened up my laptop and look for things to do. If Caitlyn wanted we could stop at the carnival on our way back. I didn't find man things that looked exciting, so I thought we could go to the Los Angeles Zoo. I texted Caitlyn.
Jack: Hey! change of plans. How about going to the Los Angeles Zoo and then we can stop back at the carnival if you want.
Caitlyn POV
Hm. Jack hasn't texted back yet. I went out for a walk and looked around Los Angeles. It really was a beautiful city. When I got back to the apartment I check my phone and saw that Jack had texted me back. Now his family is going somewhere else. Great! But it looks like we are going to the zoo.
Flashback
"Cally, can you give me your biggest lion roar?" my dad says while looking at the the big cats behind the glass.
"Roooooar" a little version of me says. I think I was either four or five. I started to giggle and my dad and I started to walk around on all fours pretending we were lions. My mom just sat on a near by bench and laughed.
Present
The last time I was at the Los Angeles Zoo was when I was 10. I have so many "family" memories but then they all turned bitter after my father died. I couldn't help but think that what happened wasn't an accident, but that what happened was planned. I didn't want to sit around and mope, so I went to a CVS and got another phone card with 500 minutes and fish food for my new fish.
I got ready to go to the LA Zoo. I took a shower, and put on a multicolored tank top, pink shorts, and grey keds.
I was going to meet Jack at the Zoo around 4, but at about 3:15 ish I started to get impatient, so I decided to meet Jack at the hotel, as a little surprise. I caught a bus to his hotel, I remembered what bus they took when his family came to visit me while I was working. When I got on the bus I wondered if he would be upset that I a just showing up like this, but I thought I would just take that chance.
The hotel was a tall triangular shaped building. It was a very modern building and had a beautiful inside. It had hair salons, nail shops, and a mini grocery shop. It seemed like a wonderful place to be spending your summer. When I got to the desk, I asked the receptionist what room the Reagans were staying in. She said 407 and 409. "They are connecting rooms" said the woman behind the desk. "Do you know which one the two younger boys are staying in?" I said. I did't really want to knock on the door and have one of the parents answer, because this was supposed to be a surprise for Jack. "No. Sorry. Your guess is as good as mine." said the woman. "Oh thanks" I say and start to walk to the elevators to got to their room.
The elevator finally reached the fourth floor and I took a deep breath before I walked off. When I got to the two rooms I hesitated on which one to know on, but I thought I heard Jack and his brother arguing inside one of the rooms. I knocked on 407 and waited for a response. The door opened and I smiled. It was Jack!
"Surprise!" I said
"Yeah! I guess so. Come in!" he said with shock
"Yeah. I was just anxious I guess and though we could take the bus or what ever to the zoo together, and I thought it would be a fun surprise." I said almost defensively
"No. It's fine." said Jack "I am actually glad you came"
I walked into their hotel room and sat down on the swirly chair by the desk. "Oh. I should probably tell your mom I am here."
"Yeah your right." Jack said getting up from the bed. He walked over the where I was sitting in the chair and grabbed my hand and helped me up. I went over and knocked on the connecting door. Mrs. Reagan opened it and smiled and said it was good to see me. Before she could say anymore Jack said we should get going. So, I grabbed my purse and headed for the door.
A/N sorry it took so long to update. I have been really busy, but I made this one extra long. Hope you liked it. Comment.vote.Add
