Godzilla had detected the appearances of Rodan and Anguirus. He managed to get them to stop messing with the natural order. A few weeks later, Baragon emerged in Cuba. Godzilla managed to stop him from reducing Cuba into a volcanic wasteland. The simultaneous appearances of Varan, Ebirah, and Manda really tuckered out Godzilla. He was so tired, that he collapsed on the shore of Baas Island. By the time Godzilla was done dealing with the kaiju, it was 1986.
Godzilla woke up. The sky was bloodred. The heck, he thought. He got up off the ground, and began walking around. "What's going on?" he said aloud. It began to rain. But there was something off about the rain. He smelled rust. It tasted like rust. Blood, he figured. He turned around, and saw a shadowy figure. No surprise there, he thought. "Who are you, and why are you here?" he asked. The figure said nothing. "Not much of a talker, eh?" Godzilla asked. Then, he was immediately vaporized.
Godzilla woke up for real this time. He didn't even break a sweat from the dream. That was the first dream I've had in so long, he thought. He got up, and looked around. Everything was normal. Well, as normal as kaiju life can get. It was then that he realized he hadn't seen Mothra in a few months. Was that dream a warning, he wondered. He decided to swim to Infant Island to make sure nothing bad happened.

Mothra woke up from another night terror. The Elias began lulling her to sleep with their song. Just then, they detected the presence of Godzilla. Mothra licked her front claws, and brushed her antennae.
Godzilla met with the Elias. "Where's Mothra?" he asked. Mothra then flew over. "Why are you here?" she asked. "Figured something bad happened." Godzilla said. "What do you mean?" Lora asked. "It was some sort of dream with a shadowy figure." Godzilla replied. Mothra immediately knew what he was talking about. "Come with me." she said. Godzilla and the Elias began to follow. "Alone."Mothra ordered.
Mothra brought Godzilla to the Sacred Temple. "The shadowy figure destroyed everything, didn't it?" she asked. "How did you know?" Godzilla asked. "I've had the same night terrors for years now." Mothra replied.

"When did they start?" Godzilla asked. "They've been terrorizing me for so long, I guess I forgot." Mothra replied. Godzilla placed his hand on Mothra's back. "Don't worry. We'll figure this out together." he said. "How come you aren't scared?" Mothra asked. Godzilla sighed. "I'd rather not talk about it." he replied.
They went to a stone tablet. "There was ancient writing inscribed on this tablet." Mothra said. "Do you know what it says?" Godzilla asked. "Barely. I can't translate it without another's help." Mothra replied. "Well, I won't be of much help." Godzilla said. "No. Only 2 sides of the Yin and Yang can translate it. Sadly, Battra's been lost for billions of years." Mothra explained. "What do you remember of the tablet?" Godzilla asked. "I only know the first 2 sentences. They claim that a great and terrible force will come to Earth one day." Mothra explained.
"Maybe the dreams are a sign of the coming." Godzilla suggested. "Maybe. I don't know. We'll need Battra to be sure." Mothra replied.
In the middle of the Southern Ocean, a crevice opened up.

Meanwhile in space, the Vortaak were about to send another new kaiju. "Why did we wait so long?" the Captain asked. "We don't want those pathetic humans finding out of our existence. But now, it is time." the Admiral explained. He turned on the intercom. "Eject Barrack E!" he ordered. A pod ejected, and hurtled towards Earth.
