I was in our dorm room with AJ. Clementine was with Louis in the piano room. Louis said something about teaching Clem how to play piano. "Hey, Y/n. You okay?" AJ asked.
"Clem asked me that question, too. Yeah, buddy. I'm okay." I said. Unfortunately, I jinxed it HARD because a huge wave of phantom pain hit my leg. I let out a hard gasp and gripped on my leg. I started massaging it. "Pain again?" AJ asked.
"Yeah. It feels so weird. I have the peg leg, but it still feels like the real leg is there." I explained. "God this hurts..." I mumbled.
"I wanted to ask something. We had a deal, if one of you gets bit, kill you." AJ said. "Why didn't Clem? Why did she take that chance?" AJ asked.
"Thinking more, I presume?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "You didn't want me to die, right?"
"No, Y/n! Of course not!" AJ exclaimed. "I just...I wanted to know why she broke her rule. Can you answer it?" I sat in silence for a bit. I then told him why. "You remember our story about Lee? Well, when Clem got kidnapped, I was with Lee. I watched him pass out and watched him get his arm chopped off. Clem couldn't save Lee and she blamed herself for his death for a long time. She wanted to take a chance to save me." I ultimately told him. AJ is probably gonna remember that story for forever. I sighed and stood up. I ruffled the boy's afro. "I would do the same for her. And I'm sure if I didn't exist..." I paused. AJ looked at me curiously. "If you didn't exist, what?" He questioned.
"...you would have as well." I said. AJ hugged me. I hugged him back. "Hey, bud. Don't worry. Neither of us will leave you." I said.
"I hope so." AJ mumbled loud enough for me to hear. "And another thing. Now you and Violet are...smashing lips, like Louis and Clem." I blushed and felt embarrassed when he said that. "What exactly is it?"
"Like Louis said. You're gonna have to wait a couple of years." I simply told him.
"Okay." AJ surrendered. "Can I go patrol for a bit?"
"Yeah, go ahead and head out. Be careful, pal." I said. AJ grabbed his gun and ran out the door. I sat back down on the bed and placed my hands on my leg again. "Whats up with AJ? He just came running down the hall?" Violet said as she walked in and closed the door.
"He's...he was asking about me again. Ya know..." I kicked my peg leg with my real leg. "How does that feel? The phantom pain, i mean." Vi asked me.
"Honestly, it hurts like hell. It feels like a Charlie horse is constantly in my leg." I said.
"Do you mind if we talk about Minnie?" Violet asked. I was curious why she wanted to talk about her, so I nodded. "When we saw her on the boat...it wasn't Minnie. Not really." Violet said.
"Just so you know, Clem offered Minerva to come back." I told her. "She told me."
"Well, the real Minerva was truly dead the whole time. I'm glad she didn't take you, or Clem, or AJ. Or Louis. Louis would always be like, 'Look at me! Watch me perform!' It was so stupid. Then I realized he really cares about people and he really does say it. Hell, he will probably sing about it." Violet said. I smiled at her and stood up, letting out a quiet groan. "I'm okay." I whispered.
"Think you can hold this thing, Hercules?" She joked, handing me a pin. I saw it had stars on it. "So you never forget last night."
"I never will." I pinned it to my jacket right above my pocket. I will never forget last night. When I told Violet I had feelings for her. "When you told me you had feelings for me, I was shocked. I wanted to tell you about my feelings, but I couldn't. Then I started thinking. There's something I've always wanted to try with someone I cared about. And I never have." She said.
"Can you elaborate?" I asked.
"Have you ever danced with anyone before?" She asked as she scratched her neck. My eyes shot open. "Nope. Never." I said.
"Do you... wanna?" She took a step back and held her hand out. I didn't even know what to do. I was stunned. I snapped myself out of it and took her hand. Violet brought me closer to her. I wrapped an arm around her waist and the other on her forearm. She placed her hands on my shoulders. Then our slow dance began as we started rocking back and forth. Violet looked away for a second, but then looked back at me. We gazed into each others eyes as we went in a small circle. Then Violet hugged me as our dance continued. I felt her rest her head against my chest. I rested my head against her head. Soon after, we separated. "Thanks for the dance." She said.
"Yeah. We're getting better at being romantic." I said. "Also, i told you you aren't bad at dancing."
Violet held her arm awkwardly. I smiled at her. I was about to step forward to kiss her, but...
"Y/n! We-" Clementine ran in. I jumped away from Violet. "Uhh, sorry, am i...?" She asked.
"No, but knock next time please." I said.
"Whats the hold, Clem?" Violet asked
"We got a small herd of walkers coming. We might need a hand killing them." Clem said.
"We'll be there in a minute." I said. Clem nodded and left. I looked at Violet. "We should dance again some time." I said.
"Agreed. Now lets go." Violet said.
