"Hey"

It was a whisper. Katniss and I looked over and saw Rue in a tree.

She takes a moment and then signals to the wasp nest above us.

I look at Katniss as I go through my bag.

I pull out bandanas and I cover my hands to make a thick barrier between my skin in the case that a wasp would sting.

Katniss and I steady ourselves on the tree and we start to cut it down.

I see Katniss get stung a few times as the nest snaps off and flies down onto the group.

I watch them scream and jolt in pain at the stungs.

Katniss and I get down and start running as fast as we can. Until Katniss stops, looks around a bit, then passes out.

Rue joins my side and grabs some leaves.

"Let's get her somewhere comfortable enough to rest. She may be out a while" the little girl says as I nod.

"Thanks Rue. You have a kind soul" I say as she smiles at the compliment. She's also very young. And I feel bad for her. So bad.

We get her wrapped up and somewhere safe to lay.

A couple of days pass after that.

I watch the screen as it shows that Glimmer is dead.

"Damn. So we have that dude from your district, Clove, Marvel, the ginger, Cato, Katniss, you, me, and Peeta. That's only... 7 people remaining" I say as Rue looks at me.

"Yea... I hope you win. You need to win. Win for Peeta" she says as I smile.

"I know he means well. He just is out of place. I want to win for him. But for you as well Rue" I say as we hear shifting.

Kat wakes up slowly and then looks at us.

"How long was I out for...? "

"Couple days" I reply.

"Had to change your leaves twice" Rue says as she notices Rue a little more.

"You helped us" Kat says as Rue smiles.

"Yes of course. I don't want to kill to win. I don't have it in my heart" she says as Katniss sits up.

"They have a whole thing of supplies in the middle. We want to destroy it. Marvel is using it as a camp. Along with Clove" I say as Katniss nods.

"Light fires around as a distraction then. Is Cato going to be there? "

"If the other two are then yes. Peeta has been gone for a while"

She nods as we go to collect wood.

"Now this green stuff is gonna burn fast. So move onto the next one quick" Katniss says to Rue.

"How should we signal each other? " I ask as Rue smiles.

"Like this! "

She opens her mouth and whistles a note as birds sing.

"Mocking jays" Katniss says as I smile at Rue.

Suddenly the ginger haired girl bolts out into the middle field and dodges mines, grabbing some supplies, and heading back to the woods.

Rue lights the fires as Cato notices and dashes off.

Katniss and I sneak around the side as Katniss raises her bow. She releases two arrows and apples tumble down and onto the land mines.

Marvel runs out of the explosion and Clove is nowhere to be seen.

Katniss and I smirk as we signal for Rue.

Moments later she screams as we rush over to her immediately.

She's in a net and I help her out.

We hear some creaking as we see Marvel aiming an arrow at Katniss.

She moves out of the way and I catch the arrow, however it was already impailed into Rue's stomach.

I let go terrified as Katniss shoots Marvel and he dies.

Kat and I lower the sweet girl to the ground as she looks up at us.

"Please win. Win for me" she says.

"Of course" I say.

"Did you blow up the food? "

"All of it" Katniss says with a painful smile.

"Can you sing? " Rue asks us as we sung a soft and sweet song to her.

Her gaze shifts to the dull colored sky as her body goes still.
