Duryodhana sat there thinking what to do, it was true that he was very tempted to go with the flow and it would definitely parch his thirst for revenge. He was actually going without any thoughts but words of Rudra did stop him to introspect.
Honestly Duryodhana wouldn't have cared much about anyone's opinion and would have gone through his impulse but he has a debt of gratitude towards Rudra who helped him truly get the love of his life. Duryodhana always remembered that and this was the first time Rudra had asked anything from him.
Duryodhana was utterly confused and trapped between his impulse and obligations to repay his debt.
Everyone else there saw the pause in action of Duryodhana, some were happy, some scared, some relieved and some were even more worried. The elders had a look of gratitude towards Rudra that he has done what was supposed to be right while they have failed. Bheeshma, Vidhur and kripacharya were grateful for his presence. Some Kauravas like Vikarn and yuyutsu were relieved but on edge. Dhritarashtra has let everything up to his son and other Kauravas would follow their jyeshta.
Pandavas on the other hand except for Yudhishthir who was drunk in madness were terrified knowing they have already lost their skill and strength so they were in a weaker position already but they can't show weakness especially now. Inwardly each of them were terrified and angered. The humiliation they were facing after listening to yudhishthira and kneeling like slaves was too huge for them to swallow.
The amazing fact is none of them were worried about what may happen to their sister in law but they were terrified of what Kauravas would do with them afterwards. The "intelligent" ones among them were counting on the fact that Duryodhana will do worse and after that they could make fuss about it and possibly escape the slavery.
It was Shakuni who was very angry that his plan was stopped at such a crucial juncture. He was a hair breadth away from achieving his goal/ oath but once again someone was becoming a hindrance to his plans. And the person responsible now was the son of the person that terrifies him but now wasn't the time to give up. He could see the undicicive gesture and mood of his nephew who he has grown to hate since his last eviction from Hastinapur.
Shakuni: My dear nephew, don't listen to anyone and follow what you think? Remember the insult you have faced in indraprastha by these Pandavas.
Duryodhana clenched his fist, remembering the phrase spoken by Pandavas and laughter that followed through. Elders were worried as they were already on the edge, Shakuni fanning the flame of Duryodhana's weakness was exactly what needed to be avoided now.
Rudra: Mamashree, don't. Think about women in your life. If you do this, how would you be able to face Pitamahi Gandhari Bhanumati mami, Dushala bua, wives of your younger brothers and most importantly your daughter Lakhsmana. Think what impact your actions would have on them for the rest of their life.
Duryodhana was showing fluctuations, he had moved upon hearing his mamashree but stopped hearing Rudra. Shakuni was getting more and more irritated by the hurdle he was facing. But at the moment it seems even gods were in his favor because the fool itself spoke to bruise the ego of Duryodhana.
Yudhishthir: Hahaha…. Duryodhana, words from a sutaputra stops you? Are you even kshatriya? You malign the sacred bloodline of the Kuru dynasty. You aren't worthy of being called a kuruvanshi.
Duryodhana: You….
Shakuni: Listen Dear nephew, listen to the arrogance of this devputra who has the audacity of calling you malign in the kuru dynasty despite himself not having blood of kurus.
Yudhishthir: So what, I am a devputra and proclaimed as the son of pandu , superior to everyone here.
Dussasan: Shut up, you are nothing but a mere slave now.
Yudhishthir: Till I haven't lost everything I own the game is ongoing and till the game is not over I am no one's slave. I betted and played my turn, asking your cowardly elder brother to do the same if he had honor and courage.
Rudra saw Duryodhana's eyes flashed anger upon being called a coward but it didn't surprise him in the least. He looked at yudhishthir and couldn't help but sigh. He realized he couldn't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.
Honestly he didn't care enough about Yudhishthir or any Pandavas as well as their sons. What he was worried about was the honor of a woman.Despite everything Rudra knew worst was inevitable and could only sigh in disappointment. Yudhishthir has put the final nail to his coffin by calling Duryodhana a coward. Not only Rudra but almost all the people were sure what's going to happen.
Shakuni was immensely happy and pleased by the stupidity of Yudhishthir.
Yudhishthir was happy getting a chance.
Pandavas were hopeful and planning the next scenario despite what results would be. It was sure that the Pandavas would have an important decision among themselves about what all has happened today.
Dhritarashtra was angered by the insult of his eldest so were other Kauravas, even Vikarna.
Elders had mournful expressions on their faces, they tried best but still it resulted in failure. Kripacharya and Vidhur couldn't help but look away.
While Bheeshma was openly letting tears flow from his eyes witnessing the downfall of his dynasty. He couldn't even intervene to stop now. He was definitely thinking of Karna who despite being away always managed to perform his duty of eldest kuru Prince and of eldest kaunteya.
While everyone was waiting for inevitable to happen, Duryodhana who was utterly angered by the insult of Yudhishthir was going to tell Shakuni to play the dice but he was stopped by sounds of footsteps which was clearly audible to everyone.
The sudden intrusion was a happy coincidence and annoyance by many present in the sabha, they all turned towards the entrance to see who the hell was arriving at the court at this moment and why even the guards didn't stop him/ her or came to notify them.
After a few moments, everyone saw a man coming through the entrance but his arrival truly shocked everyone present there. He was not an unknown person nor was he a nobody. Quite the opposite, the newcomer can be called an important member of the court of hastinapur.
Dhritarashtra: What is going on? Why did everyone suddenly become so quiet? Who has arrived?
The man who had just entered the sabha was shocked and confused after seeing the situation present there. He couldn't believe his eyes and never had even dared to imagine that he would witness this after arriving at the esteemed court of hastinapur. He was so shocked that he couldn't even form words which would make sense.
