I met my mate so quickly, only to be rejected just as fast.

As I stare at my reflection in the mirror, I'm reminded that I've just turned 15 and yet I still haven't managed to banish the stubborn acne that plagues my face. It's a frustrating mystery to me, especially given that my parents are the strikingly attractive king and queen of the werewolf world. How could they produce a daughter like me, who doesn't quite measure up in the looks department?

Despite this, there are some perks to being a werewolf - for one, we never age. My parents have been ruling over our kind for centuries, yet they still look like they're in their mid-twenties. As the eldest of my five sisters, and part of the royal bloodline, the responsibility of taking over from them falls to me.

However, being female and part of the royal family comes with its own unique set of challenges. We're cursed with certain abilities rather than being able to transform like the other werewolves. My mother insists that it's a gift, but I view it more as a curse. My emotions have the power to manipulate the weather - when I cry, it rains; when I'm happy, the sun shines; and when I'm angry, lightning strikes.

My grandmother, who also looks like she's in her mid-twenties, tells me that I'll learn to control this power as I get older. For now, though, I'm just frustrated and afraid of the responsibility that awaits me. My family believes that I'll become a master of controlling the weather, but I'm not so sure. Only time will tell.

One of the servants from our Kingdom approached me and said, "Reyna, your father and mother are asking if you have packed everything you need for the trip." She was one of my closest friends, and I smiled at her and replied with a nod. "Yes, I have informed them that my belongings are already on the jet, and I will be down soon."

She smiled back and handed me a beautiful copy of the classic human romance novel, Pride and Prejudice. I was amazed and asked, "How did you manage to find this book? It's incredibly rare to come across human books nowadays, considering they no longer rule this world." Each species had their own royal bloodline ruling them, with my parents reigning over the werewolves and vampires governing their kind. Although we didn't get along with the vampires, as long as they didn't intrude into our territory, we maintained peace to prevent war from breaking out between us.

"I stumbled upon this book in an old, abandoned human bookstore," she replied. "I thought it would be something to entertain you during your trip." Overwhelmed with gratitude, I hugged her and thanked her. "Emelyne, thank you so much." She reminded me to be cautious before straightening my wavy hair.

Tears streamed down my face as I removed my glasses. This was all so new to me, and for the first time, my best friends wouldn't be joining me. The sound of raindrops hitting the ground echoed in the silence. "I'm going to miss you," I whispered. My mother wrapped her arms around me, comforting me. My father stood nearby, waiting for us to depart.

"It's time to go," my father said, pulling me into a tight embrace. I nodded, adjusting my glasses. "Which pack are we visiting?" he asked. "We're going to the 1st pack," I replied.

Suddenly, the conversation shifted to my dad's counsel. I admired them greatly, appreciating their intelligence and kindness, unlike the vampires' council, who were notorious for their treachery. Few knew that I was destined to be the next werewolf queen, and my father wanted to keep it a secret until my coronation.

Kyle spoke of the Dark Blood Pack, a group of warriors feared by all others. Their members were highly trained killers who only answered to the king and queen of werewolves. "Do they know we're coming?" I asked. "They know we're coming, but not when," Kyle replied.

As I frowned at everyone, they all laughed at me. I didn't want to feel like an uninvited guest; they should have at least informed us of the day we were arriving. I reached for one of the apple drinks from the limo when suddenly the vehicle came to a stop. "We are here," said my mother. The limo driver opened the door and I saw Jessie, one of my servant friends, standing outside. She looked nervous, but I smiled at her to calm her down. We were the last to get out, and everyone seemed to stop what they were doing and get on their knees to bow down to my parents.

The pack's beta stepped forward since the alpha was not present. "Sorry, the alpha is not here. He's doing something important," said the beta. "Come on girls, let's go to the royal floor," said Violet, leading me and Jessie inside the huge pack house. We got in the elevator, and Violet pressed the button for the top floor, the royal floor. I was excited; this was the first time I would be staying somewhere that wasn't the palace.

The elevator doors opened up, revealing a beautiful big living room with about ten doors surrounding it. "Each door has a huge room with its own bathroom," said Violet, walking to the door in the middle. "This is your room, Reyna." The room was enormous, with a very comfy looking bed and a big flat-screen TV. I walked into the bathroom, and everything looked very clean. I turned to Violet and smiled brightly. "I love it," I said.

Both Jessie and Violet smiled. "Well, we will let you settle in," said Violet, walking out of the room. "I have to show Jessie her room." As Violet shut the door behind her, I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed with all the new surroundings.

I lay on the bed, slowly drifting off to sleep. When I woke up, I found my parents watching TV on the couch. They both turned to me as I walked out the door. My mother smiled and asked if I had enjoyed my nap. I stretched my arms and asked if I could explore the pack house. My dad saw no problem with it, so I rushed to the elevator. My mom warned me to be careful, and I promised to do so before the doors closed.

Inside the elevator, I saw a button for the training room at the bottom. It was already eight in the evening, so maybe no one would be there. I waited for the doors to open, and when they did, I heard the sound of someone hitting a punching bag. Suddenly, I heard a rough, breathless voice. "I know you're here, mate."

I looked around and saw a muscular man in his mid-twenties. I felt a connection with him, but I was only fifteen. I sensed his power radiating off him, and I figured he must be the alpha. But I thought it took a long time to meet one's mate. I looked up at him, and he looked disappointed. "Great, this is exactly what I need. A little girl going through her puberty stage," he said, looking down at my small figure.

He told me that I wasn't even a warrior and that he needed a woman, not a little girl. I felt like I was being stabbed a billion times in my heart, and tears were running down my eyes. I couldn't believe I met my mate so quickly, only to be rejected just as fast.
