Scar POV
Was it meant to be this scary? At first, the world had seemed bright and cheery, and Scar was happy to spend time with Pearl and Grian...
He wished it was still like that.
In truth, Scar was terrified. He was scared of the Boogeyman, he was scared of the fact that he only had two lives, he was petrified of Grian, and most of all was scared of the unknown. What in the world would happen to him?
Scar didn't know.
"I'm going outside for a bit, okay?" He called. Pearl responded with a grunt that Scar took as a yes. He stepped into the rich, fresh air, and breathed in.
He was sure every corner of the map had been explored. There was a plains biome, a taiga forest, a small lake, vast caves, and a teeny-tiny section of jungle. You could barely even make out the jungle based on the trees alone (usually the telltale sign of one), and rather had to go off the slightly darker hue of the grass, and the abundance of parrot calls (mostly from the other side of the border).
Scar loved the jungle. It gave him a strange sense of nostalgia, as if he'd maybe lived there before. It wasn't too far from home, so he headed out quickly to make it there in around five minutes. He pulled off his shoes to step on the lush grass barefoot.
It was rather calming. Just Scar and the jungle, the jungle and Scar, a man on his own, his worries replaced by the cheerful chirping of parrots and the soft purrs of ocelots.
Wait. Ocelots?
Scar looked straight downward. He didn't expect to see anything, but was greeted by the green eyes of a young speckled ocelot. These were a lot rarer than parrots, even here. With a confused look at the tiny kitten, Scar proceeded to bend over and offer it a shred of cooked mutton from his inventory. The kitten happily lapped up its snack and meowed at the tall elven man.
"Oh, you're so cute!" Scar stroked the ocelot's silky fur. Like the jungle itself, it was almost as if the cat reminded him of something...or someone.
He scooped it up. "I'm gonna call you Spots." He decided. "You wanna come back to my place? Yeah?"
Spots meowed happily in Scar's arms. "I think you'll like it there. At least...I hope."
Pearl's POV
Pearl had just returned from her short trip to BigB's Scar was walking out the door. He said something about "Going outside for a bit," but Pearl mostly ignored him. Her main goal was to find Grian and make sure no one was hurt.
She stood in the doorway of their small hut looking around the house for any signs of the feathered man. With no luck, she started to call his name. She quickly ran up the stairs to check the top floor. Still no sign of her friend.
A sharp scream pierced the air as Pearl turned toward the noise. She ran out the door grabbing her sword and armor just in case there was a fight. God she hoped she'd be wrong.
Pearl ran into the woods strapping on her armor while cutting through the brush. She finally arrived at the source of the scream and found Lizzie and Joel on the ground, lying in pools of their own blood. She watched Ren fight for his life as a bloodied Grian tried his best to murder the were-dog. Pearl was breathing heavily, remembering the last time she drew her sword at the short blonde. She involuntarily grabbed her shoulder and steeled herself. This Boogey versus Boogey battle ends here.
She rushed into the fight. Grian turned towards her for a second but gave Ren just enough time to run into the woods and disappear.
"Thanks Pearl," Grian said, taking large gulps of air as his lungs recovered from the fight.
