New School
Saturday
Y/n woke up in a cold sweat, lifting herself out of bed quickly as she looked around her room. With the strange dream she had last night and her new unfamiliar environment, she felt as though the walls were closing in on her. She curled in on herself, panting slightly as she calmed herself down. A quick glance at the clock showed that it was 5 in the morning, rather early to be awake. Although, she didn't fancy more sleep either. She decided she might as well get a head start on her day, and maybe get in a morning run too.
Heading over to the bathroom, she brushed her teeth in eerie silence. How odd it was, to not have to squish over her sisters as they all rush to get ready for school after they all slept in due to them constantly dismissing their alarms. No Yumeko there to shove her to the side, no Naoko there to scold them all and tell them to stop being so rough. She felt cold. And terribly alone. She rinsed her face, trying to ignore this aching feeling in her chest.
She attempted to straight iron her hair, her layers and curls working against her the entire time. No matter how much she ran the hot iron through her locks, they stayed looking messy and unmanaged. She became increasingly frustrated until she just said fuck it, and put her hair up into a ponytail and swished her bangs to the side. It was a cheesy ass look on her, but at least her hair wasn't literally everywhere anymore.
After that mess she began to try on her new uniform. The Principal had given her a proper amount of uniform items. Two plaid skirts each with their own pair of suspenders, a white turtle neck with the school logo, a black blazer with the school crest and red buttons, and the schools cardigan fashioned similarly to the blazer.
As she put her new uniform on, she couldn't help but feel painfully bland. She felt like a background character in a JRPG. She pulled at the suspenders strapped onto her shoulders, frowning as how tight they felt around her tits. It was so uncomfortable. The blazer was a bit too tight, so she tried the cardigan. But the cardigan felt too hot. If she could just wear it kind of off the shoulder, or even just wear her very own sweater like Haru did. If she could just let her suspenders hang at her sides, so she didn't feel so damn uncomfortable in her own school uniform.
But the temptation of letting herself go vanished as she remembered her mothers striking words the night Y/n had received news of her apprenticeship.
"You're becoming an adult now. There's no more room for childish behavior. You need to be a proper lady."
A proper lady wouldn't let her suspenders hang, or wear her uniform improperly. She let out a sigh of frustration, putting on her black leggings underneath her uniform and stuffed herself into the schools blazer. Pairing it with black boots, the only sleek pair of shoes she had, and there you had it. A bonafied NPC. Just looking into the mirror in her room made her want to scratch at her arms in frustration.
Despite this, she marched herself back to the bathroom and glared at her reflection in the mirror. Her (eye color) irises glared back at her, a weak determination sparked behind her glossy gaze.
"I'm not a child anymore," She whispered to herself as she stared at her reflection. Saying those words out loud almost scared her. She remembered when she was little, when she was maybe 8 or 9. With her best friend, under the magnolia tree in the park by their apartment. How they laid next to each other, and pinky-promised that they would never, ever, grow up.
She was only 9 then, but she was turning 17 now, and soon the world wouldn't view her as a kid anymore. She just had to accept that. With that aching pain in mind, she walked out of the bathroom and decided to ready herself for the day by catching up on her studies.
